returning a new vehicle

Has anybody had any experience in returning a truck for a different truck at a ford dealership? I purchased a new truck and after driving it for a couple days would like to get one with different upgrades?

I think you're going to run into a hassle on that one.

Most dealerships won't "exchange" or "return" vehicles after they are purchased. I have heard of a couple that have a return policy....buy have never actually seen one.

Once you take delivery of the truck it is considered "Used" and depreciates 20% right away.

Wish you the best.

Don't you have like 3 business days to change your mind on a major contract type of purchase, such as a new vehicle? Some defense about buying under durress or some crap........

What upgrades do you want that can't just be purchased and added on to the truck?

I think it depends on the state. I know in CA, once you sign the papers, you are stuck with the vehicle, unless it is a lemon...

I know that in Kentucky there is some law similar to that. Even with a used vehicle.

That 3-day thang is an old wive's tail. Unless it's stated in the contract you have 3 days to change your mind, you're stuck with it when you signed it. There is usually some wiggle room in real-estate contracts in case something falls through before closing, so that may be where the old wive's tail stems from.

If you were actually under duress when buying the truck, then yes, you have a legal way out of it. Unless the dealer had a gun to your head, that defense ain't gonna work either.

Most dealerships will allow you to keep a vehicle for a few days (over a weekend) before you buy it. Just ask. Normally, they just copy my driver's license and hand me the keys. Last time they had me fill out a rental agreement. No big deal. I could keep it for 3 days for no charge but was limited to 200 miles.

The times I've heard you could return was if financing fell through. But the cases I've heard, they charged a per mile and day fee. If your that unhappy, it won't hurt to ask, but I don't think your going to get anywhere.

every state has different laws. But the original purpose of this law was to protect you from door to door salesmen. If you bought that encyclopidia set from him, "under duress" you had 3 days to cancel. but most states that doesn't apply if you go to a dealer on your own accord and buy a vehicle. That is very different that getting pressured to buy by a guy knocking on your door.

Yeah, it's called a trade in and unless you made a sizeable down payment/trade in you will probably be upside down on the truck.

Buyer's remorse anyone?

Where I work at we had a guy bring back his 07 f150 Screw w/ 6.5 box and trade it for one with a 5.5 box. It would'nt fit in his garage. I heard it cost him 5 grand. Also had women buy a new escape and on the way home traded it in for a Jeep. I think it had 11 miles on it. I know that cost her $11,000.
