Question Bed extender

Hey people got a question,

My wifes screw has the bed extender thing. When you have the tailgate down and flip the bed extender on the tailgate, there are 2 straps to tie it down.

Where do you put these 2 straps to lock it in place?
We have had this truck for about 2 months and used the bed extender many times and have not figured out how to use the straps.

If you have the answer please post some pictures that would help so much.

Kevin

My '07 SCrew doesn't have any straps. It has a locking mechanism (latches on both sides).

Same here. Also, my 2002 SCREW's bed extender had latches.

It's an aftermarket unit. The straps have little plates at the end (red circle) with round tabs that pop into the tailgate latches on the side of the tailgate (yellow circle). This holds it down so it doesn't bounce. When you reach under and pull on the tailgate handle they release.

You adjust the length of the strap so that the tab pops in but the strap is taught. I don't have a pic of them popped into place.
