+1

although i'd prefer an 8' bed, anything less is a compromise, and as mentioned, modular building materials, ie osb, drywall, etc. will require the gate down to lay flat with either the 5.5' or the 6.5'

I have the 5.5 and still have trouble getting in/out of tight urban areas where parking is concerned. I occassionally have to travel to dc, baltimore and there are areas where the 6.5 bed would have caused to either: a. park illegally or b. go back home

I have an 8' utility trailer to haul mulch and anything that won't fit, or that I don't want to put in my truck bed.

I went with the 6.5 ft bed on my 2007 Screw. One reason was because I am planning to put a truck box in the bed and figured the space that the truck box would take up would be less noticable with the 6.5ft bed versus the 5.5ft bed.
If you are going to want to park in a garage it may be better idea to go with the 5.5ft bed. That was not an issue for me as I do not park the truck in my garage.
Here is a pic of my 2007 Screw with 6.5ft bed:

Thanks Everyone!

Thanks to everyone for their input. I think I am going to go with the 5.5 bed. After a little measuring I would have to move my tractor over to my detached garage with the 6.5 bed. The SCrew with the 5.5 will fit in the existing space. If I need mulch in the future I'll just have it delivered.
I went by the local dealer one day this week after getting my Ram back from the body shop. Those guys didn't want to give me anything on the trade in, so I'm putting the Ram up for sale. It's always easier to buy a new one with a fist ful of cash rather than a trade. There are a couple of people at work interested, so maybe I will get rid of it this week. I hate to see it go, but my 4 year old is only going to get bigger and the back seat in the Ram is going to stay the same size!

Thanks Again!
Mark
