Can the 1 Gen SCrew back windows roll down???

I have a 03 SCrew and don't like the fact that the back windows are child-proofed or something (some of the glass stays up). Is there a way to mod the windows so they roll completely into the door???

The front and back windows and doors look to be the same height so why don't they go all the way?

My wife's 05 Explorer even has the back windows roll down and hers has the back wheels to deal with.....

Thanks in advance.

Oh and PS I tried to search for this, no luck...

This actually has been covered before - It seems there isn't enough room in the door for the glass to roll completely down. This was corrected in the next generation SCREW. My 2002 SCREW had the same problem as yours, my 2006 doesn't.

It's a matter of Ford's part sharing with the Epedition. There is plenty of room for the glass to go down, but modifications to the window hardware woud have been deemed too extensive to justify effort/costs. It has been investigated by several people here, but you are welcome to try.

So what do you think is control the stop if the window has room?

If it is not a physical stopper the it must be done electronically....?

Correct. The Expy rear doors are shaped over the rear wheel so there is no room in Expy doors for the windows to go all the way down. There is room in the Screws but the Expy parts used in our Screws do not support it.

The window regulator assembly dictates the length of travel and unfortunately they were made for Expy doors.

And if you had truly searched you would have found many discussions about this. Like this:

Yep, it is the physical limit because the scissors range is limited and the mounting position of the assembly is too high. If it were an electronic limit, we'd all have it changed already.
