What rear end do I have?

Hey people I have a 2004 Lariat Screw. It has the larger 5.4L V8, automatic, and is only 2wd. Does anyone now what rear end comes standard with this model?
Is it Limited Slip?
What is the gear ratio?
Is there a tag on the diff I can look for?

Any help would be great.

Look at the driver's door sticker for the Axle Code. Should be one of these:

19 = 3.55 open
H9 = 3.55 LSD
26 = 3.73 open
B6 = 3.73 LSD
27 = 3.31 open
18 = 3.08 open
25 = 4.10 open
B5 = 4.10 LSD

Guys, I've got a question similarly. My axle code is B6 as well (02 Screw FX4). Does this mean both front AND rear axles are limited slip? I recall reading in the OEM powertrain forum that on many 4WD trucks, only the rear axle is LS. Can anyone clarify this for me?

The front differentials are open, not limited slip.

So I should change my stickers to read "FX3 Off-Road?" That kinda sucks to hear. I guess if/when I get gears I'll convert to LS in the front differential.

Just a FYI, a 8.8 trac-Loc works quite nicley in the front diff..... They are easy to find, and can be rebuilt for el-cheapo also......

What is the difference between limited slip and open? Is limited slip when both wheels spin or vica versa?

Yah limited slip is for less slipping = both wheels

Most of the time LS is not used it the front b.c idiots will use their 4x4 on the pavement and bind up the differntial and burn up the clutches

Wouldn't a limited slip in the front interfere with the axle disconnect? Then you would have a live setup, where both axleshafts, driveshaft and t-case where spinning full time, kinda hard on the milage.

I have a 2003 Supercrew 4X4 with a 5.4. I don't have an owners manual or a drivers door sticker. How can I find out what gears I have?

I'm the original owner, but it probably got lost when I had some vandelism repaired. Someone spray painted the entire drivers side of my truck one night. Where exactly should I look for it. It isn't on the back of the door where I figured it would be.

Or you COULD crawl under the truck and see what the tag bolted to the differential cover says.
