Maybe stupid question...

Looking at a 2004 F150 4X4 Screw FX4 with 7,326 miles on it. What exactly is FX4? Is it Trim or other package?? Truck has 7 CARFAX reports on it. Have not looked at them yet. Asking price is $23,999.

FX4 is a trim level. Check out Ford's website to see the differences in trim levels. The F150 has quite a few....XL, XLT, FX2, FX4, Lariat, King Ranch, Harley-Davidson. Should be able to get a better deal than $23,999.

The FX4 is one of the upper tier trim levels. Essentially, it's a "Sporty" 4X4. Comes with painted bumpers, skid plate, off road shocks. Click on my gallery (camera icon top right) and you'll see my '07 FX4.

You should be able to get a loaded 2004 FX4 around $20K.

No questions are too stupid...

Yeppers, the FX4 is one of the trim levels offered. Wish I opted for this, but oh well..

That price is too high. You can do better. Keep searching. GL.

Sounds a little high on the price. With 7 Carfax reports it could have been wrecked.

Check out www.kbb.com or www.edmunds for used car values. Look at the dealer trade in prices and private party prices. Then you'll know what dealers are paying for that (or any other) truck and what they should be selling for if a dealer weren't involved. That would be your target price.

$24k is a lot. At least $4k overpriced, even with every option availibel at the time.

Thanks to all. I am trying to do my research and according to AutoTrader.com that price is pretty good. I will listen to you guys and try the sites mentioned above.

I thought for a super clean low mileage truck it was pretty standard...but if you think its high, I will move on. It IS a dealer truck. Just starting my search for a new of a used truck as I can afford. Thanks again.

So go to the dealership and offer them $20-21k for it. If they bite, you just got a nice, low mileage truck. Otherwise, you can do better.

You need to find out what those carfax reports are if you are seriously interested in that truck...
