Time for Fishing

Took the new Ford (@ 2,500 miles) out for some fun in the dirt and fishing. Some ruddy dirt and small rocky areas. Truck saw dirt and used 4x4 for the first time.

Dallas Cowboys fan in Va? Go Redskins! I'm in enemy territory too. We used to live in Dale City, Va.

Looks like you had some fun offroading and fishing!

Only seven smallmouths in three hours or so. 14 inchers, but I had 2 hook ups that got the heart pounding - one broke line in rocks or stumps and the other spit my yamamoto back at me.... Great day though. I love just being out there. We lease 5000 acres and its on the James river. Deer, bear, turkeys and fishing.

It was nice to get away and play. More pics -

Sounds great - what river were you fishing

BTW I fly fish @ Smith Mountain Lake mostly for perch. On occasion a bass will take a dry fly off the top but then the problem of too much fish - not enough tackle.

James River between Wingina and Howardsville. I used to fly fish as a kid for sunfish with poppers and bugs, but haven't in a long time. I have a couple of poles, but just can't seem to get out there and get it done...

You ever fish the Jackson or Moomaw?

Never Moomaw or the Jackson - I work in Covington @ MeadWestvaco so I can look out the window and see the fish - Not sure I would eat mill fish. I hear that fishing is swell at Moomaw but my Dad retired to SML so my week-end time is spent there mowing and such. Years ago I fished Simpson's Creek and the Cowpasture.

How do those Pirelli tires on the factory 20's do off-road? I'm debating between getting some 285/70/17 AT tires for my factory rims or just getting a pair of 20" take-offs from ebay. It's about the same price.

It was dry as a bone when I went out so I don't know about mud. I do like the road ride of the Pirelli's. They handled the grass well though

The most work the truck has ever done was pulling the boat up the 20 ft bank by attaching 2 straps to the back of the trailer and to the front of boat. Boat is very heavy due to wood floor and sides, motor, undrained water, etc... Put it in 4x4 to work out the front a little and it popped the boat right up the bank - no problem.
