Good Deal vs New?

2005 Ford F150 Lariat Styleside Supercrew 4WD 4D Extended Cab 5.5 ft bed

Equipment
Pioneer Navigation System Leather Seats Sunroof 4WD Heated Seats
Running Boards Bed Liner
5.4L Engine

13K miles $28,998 @ Carmax

Vs a new one with a $41K MSRP - less rebate and any deal I could get.

I'm guessing I could possibly get new for $34 -$35 at best.

What do you guys think?

Shoot, I would check the used one out...if it looks good, and checks out, offer them $26,000 and don't go higher than $27,000.

With the 6-7 grand you save you can slap a supercharger on that puppy and enjoy it a heck of a lot more!

With Ford's 0% financing, payments on a new truck would probably be close to the used one. And, in the end you save about $7K in financing charges compared to buying the used truck (unless you got $30K cash in your pocket).

Must be nice. But why not take advantage of using someones elses money for free.. That is unless EVERYTHING is paid off including your mortgage.. Even so, take the 0% then invest the cash for 5 years..

Paid cash for my new '05 Screw, they weren't offering 0% financing at the time and they tried like hell to talk me into financing at least half.. the best thing of all was after I'd told 'em "no, I have the cash, let's settle up", the sales manager I was dealing with (it had gone beyond the front-line salesman) thought it was just too strange for a not obviously well-off person to want to pay cash.. so he left me for about 10 minutes and went to talk whoever the big boss is and came back actually sweating and asked me "Is this drug money?".. I said, well yes it is.. I thought he was gonna have a stroke!!.. I'd already explained to the salesman that it was from a 401k I'd cashed out.. lol.. so I told him to calm down, showed him some papers, though why they they should care where cashiers checks come from is still beyond me

That's wild, I can't believe they even cared.

I bought my F150 cash, when I was 21 and by myself...they didn't blink

I say go with the new one for a few reasons.

1) 2007's have a better warranty (plus you get the complete warranty instead of what is left on the 05)

2) You know that the new one was not beat on or in an accident

3) If you are paying cahs, you will get $3,000 rebate instead of the 0%

4) Will hold it's value better down the road since it is newer

I was looking at a 2006 FX4 Screw and by the time I did the math, for $10 more per month (with the 0% from Ford), I could order a brand new one. No brainer there.

Wait 3 months and you'll get $10-12k off MSRP on a new F-150. That 2005 is overpriced.

Yes, but then you are buying dealership left overs.

I ordered mine in the middle of the month and got almost $9,200 off of the MSRP.

Fine, 9200 off now or $12k later. Either way, the relative prive for a 2-3 year old truck is too high, even with the low miles.

Here is what I got from the dealer - invoice less rebate and $1000 form hold back - so the Lariat at invoice was $37,960. $33,960 with discounts.
MSRP of 41,835
Vs $29 for a 2 year old loaded Lariat with 13K.....

They will do the same $4K off invoice pricing for any on lot...

I'm thinking about this Gray FX4 SuperCrew with Black Leather invoice $35,126 so it would be mine for $31,126.

Thoughts?

Hmmm, this looks familiar. If it's the car you like and the price you want pull the trigger.
