Unhappy Help me cope.

It's going to be this time next year when I finally get my SCrew. Already know exactly what I'm going to get and what mods I plan on doing, but the agony of the wait is killing me! We're waiting so that by Jan. 08 we have ZERO debt and a nice chunk for the down payment (we're being smart this time rather than impulsive).

Help me cope with the pain of waiting 12 long more months...

Well Feb-Apr is a good window for factory and dealer incentives, so you will be sitting in the best possible position next year.

Follow Ford's strategy for this model year so, you'll know the optimum time to strike next year.

All Ford trucks made before Jan '08 really suck...just terrible. I wish I had waited until Jan '08 to get my Screw 4X4 Lariat with 20in wheels and lots of other options (not to mention almost $15K under MSRP because of left over pricing).

Hope that helps you cope...Just remember that owning that truck will feel so much better without a bunch of debt. Once you get it let me know how that feels, because I spend money like tomorrow never comes.

Just keep coming here, and look at mods because you will change your mind on mods in the next year more then you`ll change your underwear. This place is addicting.

Thumbs up

Ok, that does help a little.

Nice point about this time of year being the time for rebates, etc. Didn't even think of that.

I'm looking to get either a black FX4 or Lariat:
- Black leather captains chairs
- Moon roof
- Power sliding rear window
- 18's are ok, maybe 20's

As for the "mod bug"... I already know him/her too well -> '98 Grand Prix.

I will definately be coming back here over and over, even if it's only to 'lurk' and gain a good knowledge base.

Whadya think about the 'planned' mods:
- Gibson dual sport exhaust
- Gibson headers
- Dual scoop Keystone Good Hood w/CAI
- Edge Evo

And once the warranty is up... Whip it!

And of course the obligatory window tint, tonneau cover.

Waiting is always the hardest part. I waited a full year after I got my truck to finally do all the mods I wanted to and I'm still not done. Will probably have to wait at least another 6 months to get the second wave of mods I want (exhaust, alarm, new grille, etc...)

Hang in there and soon you'll be sporting pictures of the new ride.

Does it seem to be the norm that most ppl wait to go extreme (I.e., Whipple, cam) until after the warranty is up? Or just hope you still have the stock parts around and can swap them quickly?!

Don't know if this helps or not, but I also had to wait an entire year before getting my truck. I literally spent an entire year hoarding money for the down payment, putting down nearly 1/3 of what I paid for my truck. Granted, it wasn't brand new, an 03, but it was the TRUCK I WANTED! All during this time, I was driving a POS Taurus with a tranny that was ticking like a time bomb. Nothing can describe the joy you will feel when you finally see your truck and prepare to take it home for the first time! Now, I'm 20 years old, and driving the truck of my dreams, b/c I played it smart, saving and planning. Be encouraged as you do the same, brother!

I know that feeling, I was planning on buying a used truck late this year after I paided off a few bills. But the wife and kids keep bugging me so I bit the bullet last year and found one I liked. I guess the best part is since I'm a year ahead of schedule I'm one year closer to paying it off

I have all my stock parts ready to go back on if I need warranty work. S/c isnt in my plans on this truck, id like to get a Lightning or another Mustang s/c to play with in a few years. As far as waiting I didnt I had a mustang and my second son was just born so even though my wife had the Tahoe I wanted a pick-up so I was just looking at the F-150 and decided to buy it there and then.

What I liked was this.. test drove new Silverados, Rams, even a Grand Cherokee, thought they were all ok.. then put my butt in this Supercrew seat, and I KNEW that it was what I'd been lookin' for.. lol.. Didn't catch the mod fever until this year but when I did I decided I'd do the performance part first.. well, except for the bedliner.. saving up now for the tuner.. then some wheels.. then a little lift.. then....... it never ends

Yup... know about that, even got a mailing from Dearborn inviting me to my nearest dealership. The wife and I made a plan based on some financial planning and it make sense and will pay off (literally) in the long run. It's just hard.

I test drove the Ram, Chevy and then the F150. Won't even consider for a milli second anything outta those three. Same thing, as soon as I was planted in the drivers seat, I fell in love. Fell hard too.

It'll work out in the end... just driving the wife nuts every time I see a black on black Screw FX4 on the road and I go "that'll be me soon...".

Thanks guys for the 'words of encouragement'... it's helping. Having a countdown on the PC is also driving the wife nuts too though, but oh well.
