That would be two MPG better than I am getting on my 06 Lariat SCREW with 20" wheels and 3.73 gears.

Caveats:
My 06 is four wheel drive (you didn't mention if you were looking at a 4x4)
I have only racked up 1800 miles on the clock, so I imagine it will improve a little over time.

Worrying about mileage on these trucks is kind of like asking the price on a Rolls Royce - If you have to ask....

I am getting around 12MPG in my truck, but I am heavy on the gas pedal and frequently see 80MPH on the highway... actually selling the truck though, even though I have only had it 3 months. The mileage is just killing me.

That always blows my mind. Someone willing to lose $5k in depreciation on a brand new vehicle to save in fuel economy. Do the math first. 12mpg vs. 20mpg @ 2.75/gallon takes about 55000 miles to recover that $5000 depreciation. Use your own numbers for your truck's replacement.

Try 12mpg vs 32mpg

My truck stickered for about $39,000 and I paid $26,500 before TT&L (no trade or money down) financed about $29,000. I've made 2 payments and am trying to get $28,000 to $29,000 for the truck. (truck has 4,100 miles) If I can't then I won't sell it. I'm not loosing as much money are you are assuming I would. Hopefully I'm only out a few payments.

if i were driving your commute (assuming no extremely steep grades) , i'd be getting between 17 and 18 mpg with 17" wheels and 4WD... i'm averaging right about 16 in stop/go city traffic and just under 19 on the highway...i've had a few trips at 19.5+ on the highway

Drive these truck's fairly easy and they do pretty good on mileage. I've been getting a consistant 14 city and up to 18 hwy. Not bad for a heavy truck.

I have a 07 Screw XLT 4X4 3.73 gears and 5.4 motor,20" wheels and 5 1/2 ft bed. I live in southern WV and do more driving thru the hills than I do on the interstate. I have about 2000 miles on it now but so far my worst milage has been 15.6 MPG and my best was 17.2.

I have just turned 10k on my '07 F150 KR 4x4. The truck sees alot of highway and little amounts of city (estimate 80/20 for hwy/city driving). So far I have noticed the following fuel economy:
WITHOUT head-on wind city 13-15 mpg (typ 15), hwy 16-19 mpg (typ 18)
when there is a strong headwind, forget fuel economy...I've seen the fuel economy readout dip to 12 mpg on the hwy

If your concern is fuel economy, a pickup truck is not for you.

My '05 Screw gets 13mpg around town and to work. (16 mi. round trip) On long trips it gets 15-16 mpg. I have Cooper stt's 36"x12.5. I have several motorcycles I drive most of the time so gas isn't really an issue to me.

With my previous F-150 (4x4 Supercrew 3.73) I could manage 19 mpg on the highway and about 12-13 in town. My new one is averaging 14+ with about a 50/50 mix on a green engine (300 miles). I don't remember how the '04 drove, but this one seems to need about 1/4" of throttle to run on a 45mph road. It's loafing along at about 1200 rpm and seems to roll forever if I let off the gas. It's quite a contrast to my Miata that needs 3000 rpm to think about making anything resembling power

I had a '71 F-100 many moons ago and I think it averaged 13 mpg with quite a bit of highway driving. With 2 x 20 gallon tanks and cheap gas, it was perfect

I work at home and drive the Miata a lot, so I don't sweat the daily swings in the price of gas.

People ask me, how much gas does your truck use?
I tell them, every bit

Around town I get 11-13 MPG and highway 15-17 MPG. I actually saw 17 MPG for the first time on our trip to Florida this week.
