What to do..?
What to do..?
Alright heres the deal:
I'm 17 and the engine on my 1989 Jeep Wrangler has finally crapped out. With it being so old, my parents don't think that it would be worth fixing all of the problems associated with it, so they have given me these options....
I'm pretty poor so all i have in my checking account is about $2500.
1) They will give me their 2WD 2003 F150 SCREW, and any money from selling or parting out the Jeep will be theirs.or..
2) I put all of my $2500 towards a 4WD F150 of my choice and they will pay the difference up to $6000. (So basically I can spend $8500).
My question is, which path to I take? On one hand I have a perfect condition F150 that is basically free but it's only 2WD, but I will have money to put mods on it. But on the other I can try to find a F150 for $8500 and it will be 4WD, but I won't have any money to put mods on it until I can earn enough money from working part time.
So which one should I go with?
BTW, I'm asking in the Supercrew section because either truck I get will be a Supercrew, so I want the opinion of those who own 2WD and 4WD SCREWS.

where do you live
2 wheel drive is fine unless you live where it snows alot, rememeber your going to get more hp from a 2wd with mods than a 4wd.I have a 4 wheel drive 2001 SC but to be honest its not the best 4 wheel drive, not great in the snow for me either. But otherwise i love my truck
odds aren't too good on getting a decent 4x4 screw for $8500, gonna either be extremely high mileage, wrecked, or both. I'd say take the '03 and mod it.. unless you really NEED 4x4 for conditions where you live you'll never engage it anyhow, 4x4 aint for highway cruising.. Good luck with either way tho, post us with how you decide to go..
Get the 2WD, without question. At 17, the insurance is going to be sky high for 4X4. Don't fall into the trap of being a slave to a truck. You have tons of time to end up with all the expenses involved with 4WD, etc. Take every advantage you can to not get in debt or end up working just for a vehicle. Honestly, they offered you a hell of a deal
Alright good taking the 2WD is exactly the way I was leaning. I live in San Antonio so snow is def not a factor. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't stupid for not looking for a 4WD when somebody else is paying part of it! So in taking the 2003, what is a good lift and tire set up for a 4x2?
