i got the shorter only offered bed on my 2003 screw and i wish i had the option for a 6.5 ft cause if they made one i would have definently looked for one of them. From what i have learned about trucks the pickup bed can never be big enough. you always need those few extra inches or what not.

We sold a new screw with a 6.5in box last week we got it back yesterday, didnt fit in the guys garage. So if your planning to buy a Crew with a long box and plann to put it in a garage, try it first or measure the truck and the space your planning to put it in

I'm building a shed in the back yard and I 've handled everthing (4'x8' sheets fit great) in my 5.5 except the 20' skids. The real test will be in the fall when I take my annual 2 week hunting trip. I've got a trailer as a backup if I need it.

I got the 6.5, couldn't do the 5.5, just too small. Won't fit a quad with the tailgate up, big downside to 5.5 for me.

I started out looking for a 6.5 bed but then I decided I'd rather have a Screw and determined that I really did not need the extra foot in the bed. I can still haul a sheet of plywood or drywall but the truck is also still parking and garage friendly.

The 5.5 is good for me, you can plenty of stuff back there unless you have a toolbox in the back then you might want the 6.5. However I have an 06 Super crew with the 5.5 and the main reason I like the 5.5 is because it's plenty good enough for me to put in it what ever I need plus it fits in the garage.

I have two qauds. One fits snugly with the tailgate up while the other one does not. Even the small one's front bumper goes under my Access Cover's front support rail, scratching it up. Regardless, even the 6.5' bed means 4x8 sheets of building materials require tailgate down. Unless you plan to keep a tool box in the back, the 5.5' is plenty and you have (margianlly) better manuverability.

+1

with the taller tailgate, 8' lumber fits perfect with the tailgate down...i would have bought a long bed, but my parking situation at work is tight as is and the shorter wheelbase is nice sometimes

well it looks like the 6.5 bed is the better choice for most. i think i want the 6.5 bed but i cant find one to even look at first. i am going to order my truck and want to see the 6.5 bed. i was at a dealer with 65+ lariats, king ranchs, and fx4's and not a single one was 6.5. my friend who got his new fx4 last week got the 5.5 and he said the reason they dont have a 6.5 bed is because they dont sell and look funny. i have searched for 2 days now and even this thread, no good pics of 6.5 bed. i see a 5.5 all day long. i want to see a full on side shot of a 6.5 bed on a 4x2. does anyone have it???? need it quick.

I think the 5.5 looks funny campared to a Screw with the 6.5.
