Painting Stripes on Hood and or Tailgate

Hey all, been lurking here for a bit but never really posted.

I bought a 2007 Lariat Supercrew a few months back. I went back and forth between black or white and eventually went for white as I didnt want to be a slave to the black. Anyway, here I am 3 months later and I am looking for that little extra "something" as white can be a little ho hum.

I was thinking about painting some racing stripes up the hood and tailgate and was wondering if anyone has seen it or done it. Also, maybe just thinking of painting the whole hood or a good portion of it a different color. If so, can you post a pic?

Also, what do you think the cost of something like that would be?

I'm thinking of a black stripe or a metallic grey. Thoughts?

Thanks,

You might try some black pinstripes down the sides. There should be a nice body line to follow. I don't know bout painting racing stripes, might look gaudy. (IMO) But, it's your truck. Maybe post a pic. Is your truck a 4x4 or 4x2? You might also try some chrome billet grille, step bars, etc. to spruce up the looks. Chrome and white look really nice together (IMO).

Also, welcome to the site!

I'd suggest trying vinyl stripes first. If you don't like how it turns out, peel 'em off.

I've seen tons of trucks with painted on stripes, they look good, but, painting is a major commitment, As Wandell said the vynyls can be peeled off if you dont like them anymore, but if your definatly positive then go ahead with the black

Thanks,
If I had had a 2004-up, I would repaint it something like this. Very Boss 302-ish.http://cragar.com/ClientImages/FordF150.jpg And this If I had a newer Mustang: http://cragar.com/ClientImages/frontstripes.jpg

Thanks for the feedback...

I will post a pic as soon as it warms up a bit and I can clean her up again. It is a 4x4 with 20" stock rims and the 6.5 bed. I have the chrome step bars and fully loaded Lariat.

I really love the truck but there is something I cant put my finger on that it needs. In really stepping back and looking at it two things bother me. The first is the cruddy black plastic door handles. I can't believe they put these on such an expensive vehicle. The second is the black side mirrors. I already plan on swapping out the grill so maybe I will swap out the door handles and see how that goes. That may do it. Because as a whole, I like the looks of the truck, it's just missing that little something.

Thanks,

Flip

I think you are on the right track there. The doorhandles and mirror, and a flashy grill. I think the racing stripes would look good only if you dropped the truck, especially on a screw. We all have opinions, ultimately, it's what you like that counts.
