Daytime Running lights? ('06 Screw)

I was wondering why the new truck didn't come with daytime running lights. Is this a fad that is going away? I woudn't mind having some lights on all the time, but don't want the headlights on always, so what are my options?

Additional driving lights at lower power? Is there a way to reduce the power of the headlights for daytime and have the auto lamps come on a full power when needed?

Thoughts?

Ford has a daytime running light kit you can wire in,I had it put on my 03 after I got it.It works great and if you want the lights off one click on the E break turns the lights off, your auto lamps come on a full power when needed. Some FORD trucks have the DRL and some don't on the new ones.I think I paided $70 for the kit plus labor for them install it.

Gatorade, I have seen the pictures on what sounds like the exact same procedure, but I don't know if that would work on my '06 as the switch assy looks totally different.

Also, I don't think I would feel comfortable doing all that work. I think a plug-in module or kit like WildmanNP is mentioning would be better. I am bringing the truck in for a general service in just over a week and will ask the dealer about a kit at that point.

Thanks for the input guys. Any other suggestions (for me or others)?
