Back-up Sensors

Last Friday night I was in my 3 week old new supercrew and backed into a 4" square steel pole. The back-up sensors didn't go off and It was dark out. The pole impact is right between the two sensors on the left. I wasn't backing up fast at all (still had my foot on the brake) and am wondering if anyone else has had any problems with their back-up sensors not working all of the time. And yes, they were on incase you were wondering.

You mentioned "The back-up sensors didn't go off " that means it's sensing. The factory installed RSS is usually audible only, and sometimes it just not working well during "cold" times. I installed mine with display monitor that give the distance to the object but still I'm not relying on it 100% use your driver instinct more often. Aside from that, it will be an "aid" only for us and also I'm saving some money to buy a Night Vision Camera System for my additional upgrades

p.s. sorry about your truck if that's 3 weeks old, you can try to bring to your dealer and tell them your RSS was messed up. Maybe they will fix that problem and might fix the bump as well. Trying will not hurt you a bit.

The reverse park aid sensors really aren't all that accurate...that's what mirrors and your head on a swivel are for. Weather conditions especially can greatly influence the accuracy of the park aid sensors.

Thanks

Thanks for all the replies. It wasn't cold out, I looked behind the truck before I even got back into the truck, (by the way, I was parked about 4 spots away from any other car on purpose), it was dark out and I just didn't see the pole that was painted brown. I don't rely 100% on the sensors at all, it's just a luxory item for my wife (that's what I tell her and she smiles.... ).
I called the dealership today and they want me to bring it in so they can check it out. This happend on a military installation so I'm also pursuing thru the legal channels of why this pole didn't have any reflective tape on it to make it more visible during low light levels. Any ways, thanks again and I'll keep ya posted on how it's going with the legal thing and with the dealership.

Hawk

PS...My digital camera broke a couple of weeks ago and my new one is in the mail or I'd post a pic of what the bumper looks like.

Sorry to here that. Get a rear camera I use mine to hook up to my boat. Very easy to install yourself. I have the reverse sensing to but it's nice to have another set of eyes.

Sorry to hear about your run-in with the pole! My backup sensors seem to work fine unless the truck is VERY dirty.

I like WhiteCrystal's camera. Nice setup!

Thanks. It's not a night vision camera though. But at just under 400 it does me just fine.
