feedback on 5.4 pulling a fifth wheeler??
Tounge weight 1340 pounds, hitch weight 400 pounds, passengers, equipment, all puts him over GVWR. I'm sure he's over GCWR too. F-150's can handle much more payload than their ratings, as least that's what the springs suggest. I've had 2500 pounds in my bed (weighed 8080 on the scale w/ 6570 GVWR) with about 2" of spring travel before the bump stops. That doesn't mean was safe to do it. I personally woud not consider that much payload for pulling a trailer on the highway.
He's on crack if he thinks 365lb-ft pulls as well as 600lb-ft with more gears. While he may be keeping up with them, that doesn't mean the other trucks are working as hard as his and could be quicker.

Whatever, Ford says don't do it if you're over their ratings. I agree. Do people do it anyway? Yep. Are they the smartest people in the world?

I saw a strongman on TV pull a boxcar with his teeth in a feat of strength.
The second feat of strength where he tried to stop the boxcar going down an incline wasn't so pretty.

Fifth wheels and half ton pickups just seem like a bad idea to me.
Does it work? Sure. Does it work as well as it would with a bigger truck? Nope. Getting the thing moving down the road isn't the problem - stopping and controlling it is, and the heavier duty brakes and suspension of a 3/4 ton or bigger truck will outdo any half ton any day of the week in this regard.

A 5th wheel on a F150 I dont think that is a smart move. I even think a F250 with a 6.0PS is enough truck for 5th wheels I would go with a F350 dually with the 6.0PS. Now as far as the V10 and a 5th wheel either F250/F350 is a joke. I have driven Class A motorhomes with that V10 and god they are dogs they make more noise than anything and no power, GM's 8.1 outruns that V10.
