2000 5.4 automatic Won't Start!

I didn't run a search, cause I don't have a lot of time. I have a 2000, 5.4 XLT. automatic. Everything was good. Today the wife went shopping, no problem. Came home, parked the truck, an hour later it won't start. I had a new key made at the dealer last week, but the theft light goes out, so it's recognising mine and hers. Acts like a dead battery, the solenoid clicks once for each time the key is turned. Tried a boost, same thing. Battery gauge shows over half way, and the battery shows a green button in the window, so I don't consider the problem the battery. Both connectors are tight. I'm at a loss and have to go out of town early.....and I'm losing daylight. Can anyone help??

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a starter issue to me, could also be a broken battery eyelet at the starter also, see quite a few of those....

My battery just died a few weeks ago too, oem battery in an 02. Pulled the battery out and it was small is size and only rated above 500 amps. The new one fills the box out and it's rated above 700 amps.

Started good in the morning and a few hours later you'll hear click, click, click until I charged it up for an hour with the battery charger. Now the new battery is a free replacement one the first 3 years if it goes dead again.

Thanks all. It was a corroded eyelet on the solenoid. Good folks at Ford don''t seem to know that dissimilar metals will create massive corrosion. Steel nut and brass stud. Actually, I found a TSB on it. I replaced the cable, Ford recommends changing the complete harness. Go figure.
