CB Radio Wiring

Does anyone know how I can run my antenna cable from my CB through the cab to the truck bed? Also, how do I run my CB to the Fuse box. It's a 2001 SCrew. I obviously don't know much so all help is appreciated. Thanks, Mac

Just look for a rubber gromet in the cab. Look on the inside of the cab in the rear or on the floor.

Yep. Take out the plastic door sill on the drivers side (either front or back, but the front is closer) and you'll find the channel for the wires. The rubber grommets are in there.

I mounted my antenna by making an L bracket out of 1/8" aluminum and attaching it to the tailgate area next to the right side taillight and attached another L to that one and drilled in it for the antenna. There's a hole next to the taillight and if you take the tail light out you can feed the antenna wire down and then under the bed.

The signal will go farther in the direction of the most metal mass. So by having it mounted on my passenger side tailgate, the signal transmits farthest in the line from the passengerside tailgate to the driver side headlight.

Mounting the antenna in the dead center of the truck will give you a somewhat circular signal but I didn't want to put it up there.

I've got a 2004 so I'm just guessing they are pretty similar.

Be careful, and don't go grazy with it, you could damage the sill.

If you can get a grip on one end of it, and pull, it should pop out. You may want to search here for door sill removal, there are probably pictures of it all.

Once you have that up and can see the wiring channel you'll see the rubber plug where some wires are probably already going through to the underside of the truck.

I put the ends on the cb antenna wire after I ran the cable. You can't run the cable in those rubber grommets with the big ends on them...

From the grommet I ran the wire in the channel up to the front molding and then under that and up to the under side of the dash.
