I have owned them all. I went from Ford to Chevy and then to Dodge. I never really had any problems with any of them. When I started looking for a new truck I went and drove them all. I didnt pick the Chevy because even though it was new it still looked like the older model I had. I had a couple of friends that switched to Dodge and then went back to Ford. They both had problems with the Dodge. I went and drove the Dodge and then went and drove a 2005 SCREW and ended up driving it home. Hands down the best driving truck I have ever owned. Unless something really goes wrong, I dont believe I will ever bother with Chevy or Dodge again.

For about $1,200 you can get a programmer, air intake and a catback exhaust that will make a huge improvement.
and from what the dealer was telling me, a Rousch supercharger... That aughta do it...

I know someone who traded his F150 for a Titan recently because of the power issue and while he says the titan 5.7 has more power than the Ford 5.4 he said the titan ride is so rough he's regretting it.

Drove a 2003 Dodge 1500 for a work truck for 2 years. It was a loaded SLT 4x4. Nice on the inside, better seats than my Ford, and more room. Came with bigger tires and nice wheels, drove great around town, and not bad off road. Did have a bad wheel hopping problem when in the sand. Had to put all new rotors and pads at 25,000 miles because of brake rotors warping.

Handled like a boat on the highway. Seemed to float really bad, and really effected by the wind. Get above 75 and it felt really unstable. Fuel mileage was about the same as my Ford around town, better on the highway.

But I am a Ford man, and while it was ok to drive as a work truck, I just feel better in my Supercrew, or my 05 supercab work truck. Handling is much better, and very stable at highway speeds.

Go with the Ford.

I liked the 1st generation Supercrew but at the time could not afford it. I got a 1995 Suburban in 2003 but over a short time and a lot of miles it started to deteriorate fast. A deal fell through for an '03 Chevy 2500 with the Duramax desiel last summer and they were still having the big Ford sales. So that being said, a new Supercrew was a nobrainer. Fits the family, tows the track car, and my wife likes driving my Ford better than the Chevy. Also, I let my 4 year old son pick the color. The truck is awesome.

I wanted an F-150 about 3 years ago, but it just wasn't in my price range. Bought a Sport Trac instead and was very happy with that until I tried hauling a few things. Bought my SCREW for the extra bed room and also because I could now afford it and just wanted something bigger.

I always had rangers 83 and 97, very tough trucks!, then I needed more truck to tow my boat so I got an 04 FX4 witch I liked but the seats would stain BAD! so I went with an 05 lariat leather is great! and she tows the boat very well!

I just want to add my 2 cents into this discussion.

I'm not brand loyal but I do love American V8s. Nothing better than a V8 under the hood, in my humble opinion.

The reason I bought my 05 Ford SCREW over the competition was a result of a few factors. First, the looks. Chevy/GMC looked too old in the tooth when I was in the marketplace for a truck. In my opinion, the drivetrain in the GMC truck was excellent. Quick response to the gas pedal but that took a distant 2nd place to the looks. Secondly, I bought my Ford back when GM had the employee pricing deal and Ford did not. As it turned out, the Ford price was way too sweet to say no. Ford had a modern looking truck, a nice interior not typically found in pickups and did I say the price was sweet? Dodge was removed from the selection from experiences I learned from friends and acquaintences.

I have to say this vehicle is the best vehicle I've owned, new or used. 30k miles to date and other than a software upgrade for the sluggishness, it has been flawless. The only visits to the dealer are for the regular service calls. This truck has been so good to me, I'm afraid to trade it in.

Overall, in my opinion, there's not much mechanical difference between the 1/2 ton truck lines among the various manufacturers. People's brand loyalty and styling are probably the biggest factors in choosing one truck over the other(s).

I had a 99 F150 Supercab and was looking to upgrade to the Supercrew to better handle kids. I can get Ford and DCX employee pricing and could have gotten either brand. However, I felt like the F-150 was a better truck. Better interior, more space in the cab fior Screw vs. Quad Cab, and better resale value. This was all true for the 2003 model, and the 2004+ F-150 is even nicer for the FX4/Lariat trims than comparable Larime Dodge.

I just went through the same exact dilemma. I bought a new screw last weekend. I looked at Nissan (my wife's had luck with their cars). Dodge, chevy and toyota. I won't bore you with others but the last two were dodge and ford. I was driving an screw/ 125k on it with no problems whatsoever, but my tranny was finally starting to slip. If I looked rationally at the kinds of issues I could expect from a dodge in the same 125k miles, there was no comparison.

I like that megacab, but all the room in the world just can't make up for a lack of reliability. I have a poor personality when it comes to that and little things going wrong with vehicles make me crazy.

If speed off the line REALLY matters to you, then you might be inclined to still look at dodge. But my insurance is high enough, jackrabbit starts mean nothing to me.

Just don't commit paralysis by analysis. Good luck.

Deep down I am a GM guy, but lets face it...they are so boring. I got my 06 Screw for a few reasons. One is that it just looks really sharp. Take a look at the inside. With the console shifter and the black leather it looks good. One of the biggest selling features to me was that it now comes with a 6.5' box instead of the dinky 5.5' box. You can get a 6.5' box in a GM 1/2 ton crewcab but you have to get the 6.0 litre. And what is up with the leather interior with GM trucks? After time the leather looks like the sack of a 80 year old man!! I drove them all and Ford was by far the best, and the quietest cab! And after watching the Ford video about the truth about trucks...it was a no brainer!

I had a Chevy truck provided by the company I worked for, when I left that company, I tried to by a new Ford, 2002, and could not get a dealer to get serious with me. I went across the road and bought a new 2002 Silverado. It was a steady truck, no problems in 75,000 miles. Got ready for a new one and wanted to move up to the crew cab from the extended cab. The Chevy was just the same old truck. The Ford dealer now wanted to sell a truck and the Ford was obviously better materials and put together better. I love my Ford. I have driven Dodges in the past and they were gas hogs and rattle traps.

Dodge products have always had transmission and rear end problems. From the 60's to the present. My neighbor has a Dodge Hemi Truck and his son has the smaller version (forget the name). The Hemi has had transmission problems and the son in the last year blew out his rear end 4-wheeling and his transmission slips like the clutch is going.

I have had at least 15 Ford's, 2 toyota's, & 1 Nissan truck. And I can tell you now that the Ford will hold up when the going gets tough. It might not be as fast as the Dodge but the product is real quality. This is the reason I buy the #1 selling truck, FORD!!!!
