Question Looking for cap information

Maybe I'm using the search function wrong, but I can't find anyone making any reference to caps. I just bought a new s-crew and am interested in putting a cap on it. Was wondering if anyone has a preferred brand they might recommend? (Not aluminum) Thanks a lot.

'CAP' is too short to search. (4 minimum)

I tried 'shell' using only the Supercrew forum and got five pages. (Advanced Search)

Many of the threads have pics or links to galleries.

My '01 KR Screw has a Jason on it. Very nice fit and finish. I really like the flip down front glass so that I can clean between the shell and the back glass on the cab of the truck. When I bought my '97, I put a Leer on it mostly because they were the first in my area to have one to fit the new body style. The fiberglass work was really bad on it with lots of splinters and rough edges. The door hardware was flimsy also. Hopefully things improved with time but that experience still has me down on Leer. I see lots of ARE shells and they look good but I have no personal experience with them.

I had a Leer on my '02 Tundra and I didn't care for it at all. It looked really nice, the paint was a perfect match and it had the hinges hidden to give an SUV look, but the lock got jammed up and stopped working, and the latch wouldn't catch on one side. The screens are put in with a minimal amount of velcro and kept falling out until I added more of the locking velcro. And, it leaked a lot. What's the point? I got a cap to keep luggage dry.
I had a Fibrobec on my '94 Ranger. The locking mechanism on it wasn't great, either. Don't they make any caps where the lock actually works and catches on both sides?

I've had an ARE Z cap on my 01 Screw for 5 1/2 years with no problems. You can't really go wrong with any of the major brands.

Good to know, I've heard good things about A.R.E and will look into them for my SCrew, once I decide between cap or cover.

I have a Century cap on my '06 ( also on my '01 and my '95 ). The '01 had door latches on both sides, due to the body style, the '06 is the same as the '95, back to a single latch in the center.

I can't say one way or the other about the sliders on the side with screens from Century, I only get flip ups on the sides ( to get to the pork chop box ).

The paint codes I have ( had ) have matched pretty good, think that is the same for all, they color match from the factory code, no more close enough these days. The colors were YN silver T7 Dark Stone, and I foget the Dark Blue on the '95 ( Ram ).

Also got the drop down slider in the front on the last 2, works well for cleaning the truck cab window, and the front window ( where you can reach beyond the opening of the slider ).

The latches not catching might be an alignment problem, so don't read too much into that. If the cap place did not line it up 100% prior to locking i down, the bed could be causing this problem.
