Rear Door Unlocking? are they all like that?

I hate how everytime someone rides in the back seat of the truck and I arrive at the destination I have to push the unlock button to allow them to exit. Why do the doors not unlock like the front when you pull the inside door handle? I understand this is a minor safety concern but What can I do to disable this bothersome problem?

yes they are all like that, to my knowlege i dont know of any quick remedy,

And yes its a saftey thing, if you had a kid in the back seat, would you want them to be able to easily open the door going down the road?

maybe switching all the hardware out for front seat ones. IDK

I think the manual tells you how to deactivate this feature.

there are separate kid locks that prevent the doors from being opened from the inside

I dont know, i was throwing out a guess, its not that big of a deal to me, i just make the back passenger pull up on the lock tab to let themselves out.

I would look into what wandell is saying about the manual before you go switching hardware and stuff.

It's always humorous to me to hear the gripes... this is a safety feature and, while it may be inconvieient to some, the child lock isn't the 'solve-all' for this issue.

As soon as this feature wasn't there, we'd hear about some child's parent forgetting to engage the child lock feature or that it had failed and some 3-year old rolled down I-264 during rush hour because he/she opened the door.

We can't have perfection people... Adapt.

This is not about Child locks...

The question is: Why don't ALL of the doors unlock when the Truck is put in park... On my 2006 KR only the drivers door unlocks... When I read the manual it ref the ability to disable the auto lock feature ... but not how to auto unlock all of the doors...

Unless I am Daft (would not be the first time) I have not found any ref in the manual on how to make this change.

Any thoughts would be great.

Is it a case of the door unlocks, or is it the door latch itself that unlocks the door ?

Next time you want to test this, have the window down, put the truck in park, shut it off, and reach out side, and try to open the door. I don't know if the KR is the same as the Lariat, but mine ( at least the way things are configured at the moment ) and my doors don't unlock when I put the truck in park. Maybe I should take a read of my owners manual and Siler RMST systems again, to see if there is this option.
I have seen the park on disable Autolock in the OM, and the H2 has the unlock driver's or all door option from the programming on the display, but I cannot recall the unlock x with the F-150.

The doors do not automatically unlock.....none of them.

The two front doors will open from the inside, if the handle is pulled.

The two rear doors will not open from the inside when the handle is pulled. You must pull up on the *****, or hit the unlock button on the drivers door.

If the child proof lock is enabled, the rear two doors will not open from the inside by any means.

I do find it slightly inconvenient to have to remember to unlock the doors before getting out, and I could see where this might endanger some people in the back seat that tend to panic in an emergency situation.

In my opinion, the rear doors should open from the inside when the handle is pulled, unless the child locks are engaged.

Amen brother! My girlfriend is always bitching that I never remember to unlock her door. Or maybe she's bitching because I make her sit in the back?

And all this time I thought my back seat passengers were just idiots and didn't know how to open the doors.:o

Seriously. I didn't know that is the way it is supposed to work. I thought if the child locks were deactivated, you could open the door from the inside. I just assumed mine were screwed up or something....learn summthin new every day on F150Online

That annoyed the hell out of me because I would jump out of my screw to get the kids out of the back and the doors were locked. Well to fix this I went back to my alarm place that installed my 2-way Automate alarm and asked them is there a feature when I turn my ignition off that all my doors unlock. They said yes and pushed a few buttons on my remote and the dash and in less then 30 seconds it worked. Very happy now.

You are not alone in this feeling there are a lot of Ford SCREW truck owners who share in this issue. Here is what I found out about it in my own personal searching to a TSB from Ford.

Its been a while but I though there was a fix in those pages.

It can be changed. My buddy took his magnum in to dodge and they hooked up the handheld thing and changed it.

He said there was tons of stuff you can edit in the menu.
