I'm looking at buying this truck (F150 5.4L) on Friday. The sticker price is $31,000. I have always bought used from truck owners and not sure how much to ask. What do you think the average person can get taken off for this truck without trade in with a check in the hand and the truck in the lot?

Ok guys here goes.... From a technicians standpoint anything after 03 is purely JUNK as far as im concerned... Just wait till you get almost 100k on em and try and do a tuneup, just to find that the spark plugs will break off in the head... Then you get to pull BOTH the heads just for a friggin tuneup... Been there done that, see many of em at the shop. My service manager was looking at a 04 stx with a 5.4 in it, currently has a 05 3.0 Ranger edge 4x2 auto. I told him the Ranger was twice the truck the damn f150 could ever hope to be, but told him to look on the bright side, if it needs motor work, we can have the cab off in under 20 min.... Needless to say he is still in the ranger..... I really feel for all the people out there with the "newer, better" f150's... Just think, you all have the grand option of needing:

1: injectors, they will stick open, and will bend rods....(Thank goodness for E.S.P's right??)

2: vibrations, i am SOOO glad i have a 02, and none of this "quiet steel" bull..
not to mention the whole roadforce, weight off the drivers rear frame, rearend overhaul, trans replacement TSB fiasco...(Thank's Ford!)

3: You could always opt for a stupid-duty with a 6.0 in it..ROFL!!! That guarantees you a complimentary grenade pin with your keys at purchase!

4: Do i REALLY need to go on here?? Enjoy the payments, and return trips to the dealers, i hope they raise the labor rates a bit, im getting TIRED of workin on these new piles.....

For what its worth, i AM a Senior Master Ford tech, so i DO know what is going on....

Can you rotate the front to the rear and see if the problem goes away or at least moves?
Went to the dealer Thursday the mech and service mgr drove the truck.Had all wheels balanced again.Drove home same problem! Went abck Friday the mech and mgr. drove the truck. Was told to come back today Monday, wheels again road force balanced. Was told I have a bad tire.Waited 3 hours for a new tire was told it was worse than the one I had.Ordered another.I left and went home.Came back to pick up the truck at 6pm.Guess what?all my orignal tires were back on the truck. All I got was a tire rotation. The problem did subside some but when I get them rotated again I will go back to square one.I'm HOT! Will talk to the mgr tomorrow and the will call Ford direct.

Guess someone has seen the worst from Ford. Bet it's like any other vehicle out there though, if you work on them day in day out you are bound to come accross the shortcomings. So far the truck is very quiet, it's not a super duty and I always have been able to trade prior to 60K. Guess I will just sit back and enjoy my great truck

You know for a site having (Members: 97,625) registered members........I have seen none of the particular problems you point out?

For somebody that is a Senior Master Ford tech........That just seems odd...Not saying you are wrong...Just that it is odd

Seems like your model year is a sh*tbox for some that have had probs with it......Seen plenty of probs with those models on this site and many others....

And this should appeal to your smug attitude towards the company its customers......For the record I AM not a Senior Master Ford tech and that is why I don't have ANY payments

Well, for what its worth again....

I may have a "smug" attitude toward the products, engineering, but that is my RIGHT, as i have to put up with BLATENT IGNORANCE, when it comes to dealing with customer vehicles, and FORD for that matter...

I love to see posts labeled "We need a recall" for nothing but noise issues, or common rust buildup. (Cause the dealer/Ford should be able to control the enviornment... )

Not to mention the people who think that Ford should "maintain" the vehicle the whole time they own it... (oh, your suppose to change the oil??) (Or better yet, "Yeah, it didnt start to shift funny till after i put the chip in")

Personally, if the engineers, and customers were MADE to stand in my shoes for say 24-36 hours, then they too would have a different outlook on the products, and engineering that I see....

Like i said before, thats why they dont have district meetings with Techs, and engineers, they couldnt afford all the body bags for the engineers.

(Oh, i dont have any payments with Ford, or anyone else either.... )

You need a new job. You are a very unhappy person! I would hate to go through life like that.

I actually love my job, its the idiots i encounter on a daily basis that screw it up....

I have, and always will own Ford products, just not the newer versions of the trucks, most of the car line is ok, with the exception of the ones with the snowmobile trannys in em...

I can come off as bitter/hatefull at times, but most of what i have said is the truth, you can ask almost any other Ford tech out there, they are likley to aggree with me.....

No offense ment guys, just exercising my rights...

Why don't you help offer advice instead of smart elect comments? As for your truth...there are many liars out there in the world...as far as I'm concerned you could be one of them. But you downing the vehicle we own doesn't help. Lets here some of your knowledgable advice....

Man, how many 04, 05 or 06 trucks have you worked on with 100,000 miles on them? I have the 75,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, by that time I will be in another new one. If you had to tell your "service manager" there were a lot of problems with the newer F150, he must not be much of a service manager.
