Power Sliding Rear Window - '02 S-Crew?

Hello all,

Anyone have a aftermarket power rear sliding window? I'm looking for brands and any websites that will have them. Also, who installed them ans at what cost. I'm currently in Iraq, deployed with the Army, but when I get home, my truck is getting an 'Extreme Makeover"!

I posted this in the Aftermarket section as well, but I thought I'd check with my fellow S-Crew brethren..

Thanks in advance...

Daryl

There's a bunch of posts on this one - give me a minute and I'll see if I can get you some links.

This one has links to pretty much everything else.

CR Laurence makes the factory piece - they have a website you can order from. Since mine's an '01, I had to do the wiring - your's should come prewired.

Thanks

01Red,

Thanks for the help and the info. I guess I don't look in the right places when I did a search.

Are you still pleased with your CRL slider? How much did you give for it, if I can ask? Did your come with the frame or just the slider? I checked out a link that Rockpick and put in for a company selling them, and I can't tell if they sell it with a frame or not.

Where did you mount your switch? I'm looking right now on ebay for a countour switch. Which one did you use? Is it a power window switch?

Thanks for your help.

Daryl

I want a conversion kit that slides the rear window DOWN like on the Toyota Tundra's
That would be worth the time to install.

Hawk,
Yep, I'm still happy with it - it's great to be able to open the rear window when I'm driving by myself without having to get out.
I bought it off ebay from a ford dealership that was liquidating stock - it sticks in my head they listed it in the ebay stores part and nobody else bid on it because they didn't find it - so I got if for $150 plus shipping - around $205 total. It was in an unopened factory box when I got it, and it's a complete replacement, including the frame. It doesn't include the black plastic piece around the windows - that's just a trim piece and acutally doesn't have anything to do with the window.
The contour switch I bought was for the rear - sticks in my head the front one won't work. It doesn't matter if it's the left or right side. It sticks in my head it needs to be from a 94 0r 95 contour. I mounted mine in the factory position - right next to the power pedals switch on the dash. I've seen guys mount them in the overhead console, too, although then you have to run the wiring up. Since yours is an 02, it should have the harness already in the factory spot on the dash, but get a switch with the pigtail just in case. Be careful cutting out the dash - take your time.
Sorry it took a few days to respond - we just got back from camping, and I haven't been online in a few days. Good luck!

Patman, that would be cool - but i've never seen a kit like that for ours. The closest ford product I can think of is I think the Explorer with the box on it (can't remember what it's called) has a horizontal power window. I'm not sure if it could be adapted, though.

I looked into this EXACT modification from a 'home made' standpoint (because no one makes a conversion. Long story short, it's almost impossible because of clearances and structural supports on the rear of the cab box.

I wanted mine like that too ... but, came to the conclusion that it was the old Sport Trac or nothing if I wanted my FORD to do that...

I have several pics in my gallery (MODS) on switch...

The Contour switch is an exact match of the pedals switch -- with the obvious difference of arrows.

Sport Trac - that's it! For the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called. Thanks, RP

Would anyone have a link to where I can get the rear window switch from a 94-95 Contour? Any links to websites that would have this rare item would be much appreciated.

That's a difficult item to find! I guess lots of people are modding their rear windows! You'd think CRL would include a switch that matches the factory one. Well, I'll keep hunting, and I thank you all for the help and advice. I love this website. (Although my wife and my checking account don't!)
