leveling?

How do you level a 2001 f-150 4x4? (crew Cab)there are no springs on the front end? Am I crazy or what is the deal. Also I am wanting to keep the factory rims (16x7) and was wondering if a 32" tire would fit and how wide?

level

Yeah there are no springs. Our trucks as well as the other IFS trucks of this era use torsion bars. Do a search for torsion bar cranking..........one funny thing is the chevy guys use the ford torsion bar keys to level there's.

Right, the torsion bars are the springs on our trucks. They are the bars (one on each side) that runs from the lower a arm back to the crossmember underneath the cab. There is an adjustment bolt at this location. You can adjust your ride height and inch or so with the adjustment bolts. You will need an alignment afterwards. Most 4x4's came with 32 inch tires (265/70-17's). I would go with a 285/75-16 (33x11.50) tire.

wandell,
Can't you fit a 305/70/17 without much work on the factory rims as well. Not highjacking just not starting another post when you can answer both our questions.

Right. You can fit a 315/70-17 or 315/75-16 on a stock 97-03 4x4 by using the OEM wheels. However, it is an extremely tight fit and you will have some minor rubbing on the frame at full steering lock. Personally, I wouldn't recommend them unless you are planning on installing a lift kit in the near future.

So a 305 or 285 will fit on stock wheel no problem....and a 315 if you are planning a lift soon. That is what I read doing the search button just want to make sure. I want 305's as the lift is still a little ways off.
