Need truck tuned with CAI??
Need truck tuned with CAI??
If I buy a CAI like the AF1 or the K&N:
A. Do I now need to run a higher Octane than 87??
B. Do I need to have my truck tuned and if so does a mechanic know what he's supposed to do??
Thanks,

No and no.
The only good thing to do while putting the part on is to disconnect the battery before intallation. Re-connect when done and let it idle for a good 10-15 mins, then drive it around for a while. The computer, in lack of better terms, resets itself and learns the new air flow from the meter (MAS). This process takes a good cycle of driving to be complete- about a 100 miles I believe.

Nope....not necessary.....however, If you want to see the full effect of runnin that AF1 on your truck.......stop over at the Chips & Programming Forum and read some of the posts over there. Custom tuning will wake your truck and make it run like a truck should.
