Question New Supercrew??

I currently have a 2001 Supercrew with 55,000 miles on it. I have been pretty happy with it. A few of the things that bother me are:
gas mileage, I average 14 mpg.
fear of blowing a spark plug.
Lower door skin seam likes to rust.

I am considering a 2006 Supercrew. My questions are:
How is the fuel mileage on these vehicle? (4x4)
Any engine problems or service problems?
Corrosion problems?
Thanks.

I have an '05 FX4, I average 14.0 mpg, no engine problems and no rust. I have no complaints and love my truck. Good luck.

14mpg normally, might lower later on, our 2001 trucks are rated 16mpg but i'm averaging 14mpg also. A brand new one would be alot better to have though I wish I had one.

I have a 2006 Supercrew 5.4L, but it is only a 4X2 and I average 16 mpg in it. I've only had it since Feb, but I haven't expeerienced any problems with it so far.

My latest tank I actually got 17mpg in it. That's the best I have gotten so far. I have been keeping track of my fuel purchases online.

I have an '06 Screw FX4 and am getting almost 16mpg. I absolutely love this truck. I would definitely go for it. You can get some pretty sweet deals on the '06's right now.

I have an 05 Lariat 4X4 with a 5.4, my milage is usually right around 14.5. The only trouble I have had was the notorice headliner rattle and my climate control unit crapped out. Neither were a big deal but I was a little upset about the climate control. I had an 03 before this one and over all I like this truck no less or more. I would say go for the new truck.

yeah I wouldn't think by going to an 06 you are going to get better gas mileage but I haven't heard about to many other issues with them, plus an 06 would be under warranty if you did have a problem.

When I bought my 02 I was p'd about having to buy the extended warranty but you have too I am just one of those people who hates to buy "just in case ****"

FYI There is a TSB out for the headliner rattle thats part of having the moon roof. I had the same problem and if your dealer has the parts, it should only take them about 15 minutes to fix it. If I were you I would take it in, it drove me nuts and haven't had any problems since. Good luck.

I bought my Supercrew new in Sept. '05 and I love it. I average 13-15 mpg depending on how/where I drive. Currently have 13,000 miles.

I have about 17k on my 05' Lariat. All in all a very good truck. Still amazes me how smooth and quiet it rides. I had a couple of little issues that they fixed.

I get 14.5 all around driving and about 18 highway.

06 sCREW here, 1200 miles on it, avg 14.5 mixed driving. Way nicer than the 01 sCAB I used to have.
