factory code

Help. I've just bought an '05 screw, without an owner's manual. Does anyone know where to find the factory code, so I can reset the entry code on the door? Thanks

If you bought it from a Ford dealership they will be able to hook up the (WDS) Worldwide Diagnostic System and read it for you. There is a sticker in the truck somewhere but I’m not exactly sure where but I think behind the rear seat. You might want to post this question in the 2004 – 2006 F150 forum for a more specific response

look under the dash. I think it is up by the brake pedal. you should see a box with a white sticker on it with the number on it. That is the permenant code. you can also program your own personal code. i don't remember exactly how but it's in the manual if you like when i get back to my truck I can post the instructions. And yes the permenant code would have to be changed at the dealership but you could redo the personal code as many times as needed so if you wanted to give the code to someone to get in your truck you could then easily change it later.

The under the dash trick was 2003 and older.
The 04+ have the BSM ( Body Security Module ) in the rear of the truck.

You don't have your trim level filled in on your profile, but here are the locations :

Std Cab : In the C pillar on the driver's side, just below the speaker.

SCab and SCrew : Back of the cab ( on the rear wall ) , about 14" over from the corner, of the driver's side. This would make it behind the rear seat back.

Here is a thread on taking out the rear seat, that is just about verbatium of the DVD service manual :

Kind of a PITA to take out the seat back to find the factory code, but it is better then paying the dealer to do the same thing.

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think this can be read on the Rotunda Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) ). Maybe with the Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) installed it does ???
Got me, I know prior they would pull the WDS system routine on people, and the tech would just look up under the dash and write it down, and charge 1 hr of labor for the trouble.

With the RAP/CSM the only way to change the factory code was to buy and install a new RAP/CSM. Might not be the same way with the BSM ?? Don't have any confirm on this one way or the other.

Change the factory code, or add a personal code ?

To add a personal code, the directions are in the owners manual on page 107 ( this is the page from the '06 Owner's manual, 05 might be slightly different..Locks and Security Section ). When you add a personal code, both 5 digit codes work.

To change the factory code ?? In the past the RAP/CSM was a replacement, the BSM might be different, I don't have any confirm if the factory code is burned the same way into the BSM like the RAP/CSM was. No firm documentation on this on the DVD service manual.

i had to do this and its not that bad... it may be different for you having a 2005 and me having a 2004. for a supercrew it's not under the dash. its behind the rear seat on the drivers side. you have to take the rear seat out which is tricky and look behind the panal behind the seat. you'll see a barcode with the code on it.

Well if someone ever finds out your factory preset code might as well go ahead and unplug it straight from the door, cuz other than the secondary programmable code, your factory code can not be changed, not even by the ford dealership

So, if previous owner wants to get in your truck, can he still do it with factory code???
