Tie Downs

I like the tie downs on my 05 FX4 SuperCrew but often they aren't the most useful things because they are burried at the bottom of the bed. My truck (and I assume all F150s) has that rubber rail guard and I don't see the stake pockets.

Does my truck have them? Even if it does I have the spray in liner and can't see them from the inside.

So, has anyone tried to use these (or some other brand). pop up tie down

How strong are they?

Thanks...

If they are lower you can secure smaller loads easier. If you are tie ing in a rope by hand, buy some key chain caribeaners, and that way you can just clip the rope to the tie down instead of feeding the whole rope through it.... Makes life so much easier.
And i would think that those tie downs you linked would work with just a hand tied rope. but if you have ratcheting tie downs it may flex the bed railing too much and actually damage it.

Yes, you do have stake pockets under the rail guard. You'll also find about a dozen holes in the bed rail under the plastic guard (for the clips that hold the guard down).

since the stake pockets are there, then, I have to decide if it would be better to cut the rail guard out or just use the other style. I did a quick look and am concerned that the stake pockets are sealed in by the spray in bed liner.

I am a little concerned about cutting out the rail guards... thanks everyone.
