Tires.. bad bad tires

2005 F150 Supercrew.. 2wd. Continental tires. 3 replaced under 8k miles for cupping. The first two were replaced on the front, rotated. The tires from the rear started cupping. They replaced one but the other wasn't bad enough. Now at 10k miles that last tire is vibrating like a huge monkey banging on the wheel while going 100mph They are going to replace that tire Thursday.

question is... has anyone else had this roblem with these tires or the 05 Screw's?

Kev

Do a search for 'monkey banging' and you shall see....
If nothing comes up here look in google images "monkey banging"..
But most of all, do a search...

How's that? I'm not a newbie to this board. Just haven't posted in years and had to create a new ID. Have you had this problem or not?

I want to know if anyone has discovered that it's just the continentals or an actual problem or an isolated incident... and I did do a search. Too much BS to sort through just for a simple yes or no answer.

I purchased a new F-450 which ate through the tires with major cupping by 11,000 miles. Turned out to be the shocks were behind the mess.
Good luck.

See if your dealer will get you something else. The Conti's have to be the worst truck tire on the road, so give up trying on them. I traded mine into Discount Tire with only 170 miles on them and got 30 bucks a piece credit for them. I know some Ford dealers will give tire certificates. Check out www.tirerack.com for reviews and prices!

I have a 4X4 and put on Bridgestone Dueler Revo's and new Bilstein shocks. Man, I think Im ready for Laguna Seca! What a difference across the board.

That's the kind of answers I was looking for. I personally think it's the shocks (just from the research I've been doing on cupping) and not the tires but if they'll keep giving me new tires and the Service Manager likes me.. what the heck right? She told me they checked the whole front end out. If it eats this set up on the front again I will have her insist that Ford replace the shocks.

Thanks guys
Kev

If you can get them to replace the shocks (plus no install charge) with Bilsteins, pay the extra cash and do it! You wont be disappointed and they have a lifetime gurantee on them.

It's a major job to do the fronts due to the shocks being inside the coil springs. Its about a 3 hour job alone for the front because the springs need to come out. The backs are much easier (I paid about $325 total install and align)

Four Bilsteins are gonna run you approx $375. Remember, stock shocks are mass produced and stamped out as fast as Wonka Bars!

That's the route I plan to go if they don't replace them. As soon as I come up with the ca$h to do it. I can do the work myself, just have to obtain the shocks.

Thanks!
