Newbie F150 Screw owner (need your help!)

Hey guys,

Great forum!

I just bought a 2005 F150 FX4 Supercrew (couldn't resist the huge incentives). I am stepping up from a '99 Explorer that had 125,000 miles.

I need to get the following:

1) new tires (want something larger and better in snow than 255/70/17 Generals that are currently installed). How bout Bridestone Dueler Revos?

2) step rails (want black tubular)

3) spray in bedliner (Line-X?)

4) hard tonneau cover. I want something weatherproof and lockable but still easily removable. (Leer fiberglass?)

You guys know all this stuff better than I. What do you recommend and why?

Thanks!

BJB, I'm fairly new here too but can provide input on two of your questions. Go with Line-X. Excellent product. I had a Line-X on my former truck and loved it, good looking and durable. Many loads of mulch/dirt and gravel later, it looked great and didn't cut or scuff the way others (Rhino) do. No experience with Rhino, just what I've heard. Also, go with Undercover if you want a lightweight, durable, inexpensive hard tonneau cover. You can paint them although I say, save the money, leave it black...depending on the color of your truck. I have a black truck so it made it easy. Just my .02.

I've had a lot of problems in the past with the spray in bed liners peeling up and getting damaged when I haul bricks or wood. Bought a Bed Rug and I couldn't be happier.

I've heard good things about the Fold-A-Cover Tonneau. Think I might pick one up. I prefer the lockable hard covers that fold up compared to the one piece hard cover or the soft covers. The soft covers are too easily damaged and broken into.

Wheels/Tires? I've had great luck with Yokohama Geolanders in the snow. You might want to upgrade to 18 inch FX4 wheels in the future.

You really can't go wrong with Westin Nerf Bars. Easy to install and well built.

I had a Spray in Rhino liner in my 01 SCREW, loved it and had no issues, I have a Spray in Scorpion bed liner on my new 05 SCREW and hate it ! cheep and it is pealing (came with the truck) i will have it re-sprayed with a rhino liner.
regarding the Tonneau, I had an A.R.E. LSII on my 01 and loved it, matched perfectly and looked great, i just ordered a new A.R.E. LSX Series this past weekend for my 05 and although it costs a bit, there is nothing like it out there.
The look is tight and the lines match your truck hood from front to back.
the one issue is removing it, not the eaisiest thing but then again, mabey folks will stop asking me to move things for them.

I am a newbie too, but my first and only mod so far, is the Undercover tonneau. My truck is black, so it blends in, and it easy to remove in case I want to put a motorcycle in the bed.

I got the Ford bedliner. Not sharp enough to know the difference between the different liners, so I am satisfied.

Congrat on getting a great truck..
