Running boards on a Supercrew

I am looking for running boards for a 2005 Supercrew but I dont understand. Can they be installed myself or do I need a lift and a welding machine. Are you guys happy with the look after installing running boards on your supercrew?

My 01 came with them and they are great for jumping in and out with.

You can do it yourself. All it is is a couple of screws on each side. Shouldn't take more than a few minuets.
What kind of running boards are you looking to buy? I might be taking off the black platform ones that came on my XLT in a couple of weeks. I'll make you a good deal.

They bolt onto the frame or body. There are holes on the truck already. Assuming you get the right parts for your truck configuration (Screw), they should bolt on in <30 minutes.

You can do it yourself in 30 minutes. They just bolt right.

I put a pair of Westins on my old 97 F-150. Just had to slide some brackets into existing holes in the frame and bolt on the running boards. Nothing difficult at all.

Question What Brand to Buy

I tried to put some TrailFX steps on my '03 the other day. They fit horribly, tight to the body, too tight to use.

My truck is a 4x4 and kinda hard to get in and out of. Steps would make it real nice. I saw one with some Westins and they looked good, but are seemingly expensive at $450+ (I paid about $275 for the TrailFX, Chrome over SS).

What brands have people here had good luck with?

Since we're on the topic....

Does anyone know where I might be able to get an oem running board (black) for an '01 SCrew? I really just need the cover for the driver's side because mine is cracked. I've found places where I can buy the whole unit, but it's not cheap and I don't need all of it.

Thanks for any feedback.

Stu

I still have not purchased the running boards yet. I like the chrome ones that you can get factory installed for $350 but have had very little luck finding them.

OEM NERF BARS. Pics don't match the descriptions but product descriptions match up with the Ford stock number. http://www.fordgenuineaccessory.com...ning_Bars.4.htm

Alot of people go with the aftermarket running boards but in my opinion the Ford running boards are the best looking ones. The Westin boards are too thin. The Ford ones are wider and have the chrome look. I think they are the sweetest ones. About 400 bucks installed at Ford dealership.

I bought OEM Ford nerf bars on Ebay from Bones Enterprises. I bought black, I have seen chrome on their site also. About half the price of Ford. I also installed them myself in approx. 40 min.
