questions on buying

I've been really considering buying a used supercrew f-150 for a while. first of all, what kind of mileage are you all getting with yours, 5.4L and 4x4. does it have plenty of power for pulling things such as boats, snowmobiles, etc. i've owned a thunderbird since my freshman year of high school and thinking maybe it is time to upgrade. just some thoughts.

I have an '05 supercrew and love it. With the 5.4 I am getting about 16 mpg, thats mostly highway too. I tow a lot too, and I have no problems at all, although all I tow is a trailer for a few ATVs. I don't think that you would regret it and towing shouldn't be all a problem, unless you are talking about big boats and campers, other than that I really don't see anything negative. Good luck and I am sure more people will chime in for more opinions.

I have an 01 crew cab 4x4 tow pckg, off road and 5.4. Gets 15 mpg no matter what. Towing, going slow, going fast, ac, etc....just 15 mpg. Thats fair for such a large vehicle. You can tow 4-5K pounds and barely even notice it. If mpg is an issue the 4.6 may net you an extra 1-2 mpg.

I just filled up this morning with the best tank I've gotten in 30k miles at 14.7mpg. I've got a little larger than stock tires, though.

My '02 S'crew is a 2wd w/5.4 and it avg's 17 to 17.5 mpg over the last two years or 60000 miles. My driving is about 70% hwy and 30% city, so that does make a difference.
