Unhappy Hood Shake

I bought my 2004 Screw last year. This is the second one I’ve owned in the last 6 years. I wanted to move up to the 5.4 L and the new body style. This may be the best vehicle type I’ve owned regarding both functionality and performance in many a year. The problem I'm having though is with hood shake when I go over 65 MPH. The faster I go the worse it gets. It's a little unnerving watching the rear of the hood flapping up and down by as much as a ½ inch as I drive down the interstate. I’ve had it in for service twice where they tired adjusting the hood stops but to no avail. The only thing that did was drive the hood out of fit alignment. I have a Lund bug shield and a fiberglass hood scoop (non-functional) attached to the hood. I'm thinking it’s probably the hood scoop, but I don't want to take it off unless I absolutely have to. Has anyone else experienced any problems with their 2004+ Screw's with this kind of setup?

Since you have the scoop and bug gaurd, I would not be concerned as much since Ford will say you created this concern. As long as you know the hood is closed and latched properly, go with it! Unlike the concerns we read about here at Ford where customer has wind noise and when we call the customer, first thing we ask is do you have a bug guard or window shades, vent visors? If they say yes, we can only input the fact you might have slightly altered the design of your ride, but made it different from all the other F-Series on the road today.

^^^ I hate to disagree with Showya, but I think that it could be a concern with the bug shield or the scoop. I would do some trial and error by taking one or the other off, and then both and see if it still does it. If it doesn't shake anymore, then you found your problem, if not I was just trying to help. Good luck and I hope you can figure it out.

I was in my friends 04 supercab the other day and noticed the same thing. He has a ford bugshield no other hood assec.s. I would think from the way it shakes it has to be the hinges or the hinge mounts. I have an 04 supercrew no problems with mine.
