transmission gauge
Auto Meter.
There are mechincal and electric gages.
There are three places to install the gage sensor.
1. In the pan.
2. In a pressure port.
3. Installing a manifold block in the outlet cooler line to the radiator.
In my opinion, the cooler line (#3) is the best place to monitor the fluid temperature. I can tell you why I don't like the other two if you want to know.
Installatuion depends on your expertise.

I will take your word for it on the install location, I just need a good measure of the temp, I just started hauling a heavy Travel trailer and want to keep an eye on things. As far as my auto mechanic experience goes, the most in-depth things I have done is put an alternator on a Honda and replace a radiator in a toyota truck. Do you know of any websites that describe the installation process for this (or can you give me an idea of what is involved??) Thanks for your help!
There are many posts on the installation in the archives. Example:
