2004 SCrew Reat Seat Removal

Anyone know how to get the rear seat out of a 2004 SCrew? I really just want to get the backrest out and not the seats. Do I have to take the whole assembly out???

I don't care what anybody says...I don't believe that the rear seat comes out!!!

Belive me, I have tried...and tried...and tried...and tried...and tried.

I may in fact resort to a sawz-all, just to get the da** thing out!!!!!!!!!!

I tried it one evening and failed miserably. About a week later, I tried again and was successful within a half hour. First thing I did was unfasten the center shoulder belt housing and let it dangle on the seat back. Then comes the tricky part. I used a flat-head screwdriver that was maybe six inches long? I lifted the seat bottom just shy of the locking position and fed the screwdriver under the bottom of the seat back until it was vertical (handle down). I fed the screwdriver from the center of the cab then slid it down near the tab location. Then using my fingertips, I guided the tip of the screwdriver between the foam (which is closer to you) and the metal tube (the one in the seat back that you can't see). Once the screwdriver is between the two, it's sorta wedged in there. Then I just wiggled the screwdriver around until i 'felt' the tab and pulled the handle towards me. The tab flexes very easy and I almost didn't think I was moving anything. That combined with a little upward push should pop it right off. The next trick is getting the other side off without re-locking the side you just broke free. I'll agree with the posts I've read that say the first time is the most difficult. Once it's off and you can see what's behind curtain number one, taking it off again won't be so hard. Although I do have mine zip tied 'open' so that I can access my amps quicker. Don't know if that's much help. Maybe we should all post our seat removal times Good luck!

I heard one guy simply snipped the plastic locking tabs off instead of just zip-tying them open. If I ever need to remove my back seat, you can bet that I'll disable the stupid locking tabs so a normal person will be able to remove the seat without tearing it up.

Unless the pillow tag police come looking for me and throw me in jail for snipping off a hidden plastic locking tab!
