Question Help! Will 05 supercrew fit in my garage?

I know that the 05 supercrew is 224" long and has a wheelbase of 138.5", but I need to know how much front overhang the truck has. For example, my garage is 21' but has a curb-stop at 17' (204"). I haven't had a chance to measure from the lower edge of the front tire (where a curb would hit) to the edge of the front bumper. I need this measurement on the truck to be at least 20". Will it fit? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Do what I did. Take one for a test drive and make sure.

You got to be careful about typing that Dave, I might reply.

Let's look at the facts:
Overall length 224"
Wheelbase 138.5"
Remainder = 85.5"

"Where the curb hits the tire?"
Screw that! from the center of the front wheel to tire edge is one half of a whole.
Same damn thing for the back tire.
So, maximum would be wheelbase plus height of (one) whole tire.
Lets say they are 35 inch tires.
224 - (138.5 + 35) = 50.5 Inches
How much is in the front and how much is in the back?
Screw it, it don't matter.
If it is split even fine (which it aint) that would 25 1/4 inch and your covered.

If you got more space under the rear than the front then back the damn truck in.

Why do I sound like I'm mad at you?
Hell I don't know.

Maybe because you made me think Dave, and i don't like that.

Hey Dave, it's me your good buddy.

The garage sounds like it might be tight.
I dont think your tire will hit the curb before you get the truck where you want/need it.

Use the curb to your advantage, measure the gap between tire and curb when you are righteous and block that space with wood or such.
Pull into garage until you hit your personal bumpstops.

Raoul,
unfortunately it will be more difficult to back into the garage because of the traffic in front of my house. I've worked the math in a similar manner to you, but I wish I could find data from Ford to show the distance from the front axle to the front bumper. This would make the math more accurate (since I must focus on the front overhang).

Another problem with doing a test drive is that the house is not yet complete so the carpenters' supplies are currently in the garage.

Thanks again.

Plus you keep devulging facts.
Go in that garage and root around the carpenters supplies until you find a big *** hammer then givethat curb what for.

If anybody asks, you don't know nuthin.

My neighbor built small wooden ramps so his "longer" car would fit in his garage. The ramps allowed the front wheels to roll in further so the rear of the car cleared the door.

My ideas exactly...we had and older garage w/curb on it...I just went out to my favorite home supply store and bought a few bags of concrete. Tossed it along the entire edge of the curb and made a ramp from the lower level to the upper level. Not only did it help with squeezing an extra car in the garage, but it also helped with the small things like lawnmowers, bicycles, etc..basically anything w/wheels.

Dave,

I went out and did a measurement and came out with ~23". I did it at about curb height.

I have the '05 SuperCrew and it fits perfect in my garage

I was concerned too....

...about truck length and garage size. The best idea posted here is to go out and drive one....straight to your place. I ended up with about 8 or 10 inches in the clear; thats not a lot to play with.

The brochure for the '05 F-150 gives a center of front wheel to front of bumper distance of 36.9"

While the numbers will tell a different story, I actually feel like I have more room in my garage with my 05 versus what I had with my 01.

the wheelbase is shifted forward slightly in the 05 vs. the 01, so yes, I can see how it would seem that way.
