Major System Failures - btween 36k & 100k miles

Just a followup question for this boards members to verify / discount my opinion on Extended warranties.

How many of you have had a major system failure - ie anything that would have been covered by an extended warranty that cost you an excess of $1000.00 between 36k and 100k miles?

If so - did you abuse (race), modify or subject your vehicle to severe usage or conditions?

Just wondering?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy life insurance.
Has anybody here died?
If you have please speak up.

And if you have died, did you ever run at some time in your life instead of walking, or carried a heavy box? This thread is gonna be great! rex

I have the infamous 97 4.2 and even I couldn't have used one of those extended warranties. My "failure" happended at 122000. I did have an extended warranty on my wife's camry. I had a heck of a time getting them to pay up. The stories too long to try to tel here but my experience convinced me never to purchase an extended warranty.

That being said, I highly recommend the warranty to all Dodge owners.. primarily for their transmissions.

rexwl, didn't mean to muck up your experiment on extended warranties but, I believe the results might be skewed.

There are four types of owners out here in cyberspace:

1. I didn't get one and I'm glad I didn't waste my money.

2. I didn't get one and wish I been smart enough to invest in one.

3. I got one and was sure glad I did, I'm brilliant.

4. I got one and got took for a ride, I'm a dummy.

You are really interested in type '3' and '4' in this experiment.
Which one is more likely to reply?

Forget I even mentioned

Forget I even mentioned warranty..

It is a simple question. -- Anyone with a F150 have a major system failure between 36k and 100k miles.

Did you maintain your vehicle properly?

Was it used for "Severe" purposes - ie, excessive idling, Racing, overloading / towing in excess of rating?

I have owned vehicles in the past that failed - just after the warranty, but these were not a F150. (84 Tempo)

Raoul, rex is interested in rejoicing w/ any and all that conform to the chest thumping category 1. Me being a stubborn category 3 is why this thread started in the first place. Still funny though.

Ease up man..

I was just wondering if anyone on this board had ever had a major failure outside of warranty before 100k miles that wasn't due to severe usage..

So far - nobody.. nuf said.
