Air Shocks,

I want to put Air Shocks on my 2001 Super Screw.
I can't find any one that makes them.
Have any of you out there put Air Shocks on a Super Crew?
If so, please let me know where I can get them.

Are you just talking about the shocks or are you looking at installing an air bag suspension system (to raise/lower your ride)?

I just want to replace the stock shocks with air shocks. I tow an 8,000 lb. race car trailer in the summer. I put on helper springs to hold the 1,400 lb weight on the hitch. They work fine, but when I'm not towing the truck is about 3" highier because of the helper springs.
I take the helpers out in the winter time.
I had a truck years ago, a Suburban, with the air shocks for towing the trailer and they worked out great.
And yes I know the hitch weight is a bit high, but I've been trailering it like that for many years with out a problem.

Hm...I'm not an expert here as for as what's available, but I do know that the Rancho RS 9000 series shocks are adjustable via 9 different settings (smooth street ride to heavy loading/offroading). If you don't mind crawling under the truck to change them (via twisting a nut on the shock) then you might be able to go that route. Alternatively, for some extra cash, they have a remote control system that will adjust the shocks for you via an air system. Find more on Rancho's Website

You would be much, much better off to go with one of the air bag setup that allow you to inflate them when you tow or haul.

I had air shocks on an old ride of mine- pumped them up, loaded a HEAVY trailer on her, and snapped both shock mounts off at the axle. Be careful!

You'd be better off with "Air Bags". Air shocks put the weight on the wrong component.

Springs carry the weight.
Shocks dampen the spring.

Do it safe, get air bags.

Thanks,
Start w/ checking out Air Ride Technologies. I've seen Stacey David install a few kits on SpikeTV's "Trucks!" show.

You may be interested in their AirOverleaf Kit, which installs an air bag between the leaf spring and the frame w/o hacking too much of the original suspension. It should get you to about 3000# or so... The bag kit will run you about $300 plus another $250 or so for an air compressor.

It sounds like a lot of dough for something as simple as what you're doing and you may be better off (cost wise) just sticking w/the overload springs. Although the air bag setup would be cool!!
