Tire Pressure

I have a 97 F150 XLT Supercab 5.4L. I just installed 4 new tires
(Michelin LTX M+S) LT 265/70/R17. What pressure do you recommend ? The door sticker says 30PSI but that seems soft to me. I don't carry much weight with the exception of a sled or ATV a few times a year. Any recommendations?? Thanks.

Unless you put identical tires on your truck the door sticker won't mean a thing, since that pressure was for the OEM tires. I always run my tires at the listed sidewall pressure in an attempt to maximize tire life and gas mileage, plus if you tow or haul, the load rating for any given tire is at the sidewall pressure.

I have Goodyear ATS's that take a max pressure of 44psi. I found that 35psi front and 38 psi in the rear work best for me.

I would start with the max pressure listed on the sidewall of your new tires then possibly make a slight adjustment + or -, if necessary, for ride comfort or heavy towing.

Its interesting the AT/S's have a max prossure of 44psi while the michelins have a max 35. Are the sidewalls on the Michelins that much weaker??

did you check....one could be a regular passenger truck tire and the other a LT designated tire...more ply and stiffer side walls.

I dont buy LT's for my everyday driver.

I run 35psi all around with a 44 max....Mine are Bridgestone AT Revos.

On my '04 SCrew the tires are 260/60/18. The max pressure rating is 32 psi. I have 30 psi in them now and they look half flat.
