Did I get a deal? New Owner

New to the board and I just bought a 2001 Supercrew 4X4. I've wanted one for quite a while now and figured I found one at a pretty good price so I went for it.
I got it at a local dealership for $13,900 ($14,800 out the door with tax, title, license etc.).
It's an XLT with pretty much every option, clean body (two door dings which they are going to remove for me with paintless dent removal, and 2 scratches on the tailgate, imaculate interior, and runs and drives great!) 85,000 miles (I know, high for the year but.....) and it also came with a hard tonneau cover and aftermarket nerf bars.
Just curious if it sounded like a good price?
TIA
Rick

PS: I bought it at a Ford dealership so they said it went through their 115 point inspection. Whatever good that is? LOL

I don't know if you got a good deal or not. I've found it's better to not ask or look at other deals after the papers are signed.

Here's what I bought just a couple weeks ago for comparison. I'm very pleased with the truck and price, so hopefully no one bursts my bubble by telling me I paid too much!

2002 4x2 Supercrew
- 1st registered in 2003; 13month warranty left
4.6 w/automatic
14,200 miles

$18200

Notice it's a 4x2. I didn't want 4x4, and it took me a while to find a good 4x2.

Thumbs up I think you did well

I'm no expert, but just bought an '01 myself recently. Based on what I paid (more than you *sigh*) and from reading these forums (which I found AFTER buying ), I'd say you got a decent deal on the truck.

Well thanks for the replies. I guess we are all new owners and I for one am VERY happy with my new truck!
I was sure hoping that I didn't get a bunch of replies that said "you can pick them up around here for 10-12 grand all day long" LOL
I figured when I got it for 4 grand under retail book I was in pretty good shape.

Well, with the deals they are giving on the new body style, its hard to get a "deal" on the older imo. Even though they are going for quite cheap!

Sorry guys.. no BS here....... but I bought mine brandy-new,in 4/02(left-over) for $ 23,600 & they added a bed-liner for cost!! with taxes etc. --- $25K! The list was $32,6!!

BTW, it helped that I was paying cash!

Question Good deal

Sounds like your are at least in the right "ballpark" price range. I see '01s here, anywhere from $11,500(high mileage) to $21000 (low mileage & loaded 4X4). I have 72000 on my '02 and really have enjoyed it. I pull it behind my motorhome when we travel, so I've driven it in all types of terain and weather. Love the space and performance.

Almost as good as the deals our family got on our 04's. We didnt get less than 9500 bucks off either and one was closer to 11K off! But this is on 04 Screws.

Sounds like they`re really trying to unload the new ones! I`ve got just under 28k on mine so I`m hangin` on to it for awhile.... not that I have a choice.. my significant other is due for a new VW in the near future, so I`m just going to upgrade this one. A new exhaust is next!!

Good luck with the new ones!

its best to get a new one!

OUCH! I hope everyone was OK! What happened??
I kinda like the front ends on the new ones ,but the rears are too boxy. Of course that`s just my opinion,I could be wrong!

I'm new to the SCrew section. I usually hung around the Supercharger section but I guess I now belong here. Bought my 03 FX4 screw saturday. I think I got a steal. 22k with 17k miles with matching fiberglass canopy. Awesome vehicle. You'll be seeing me around.

Thumbs up

It doesn't matter what other people think. If you are happy and satisifed, then it's a great deal.

Just for everyone else's comparisons:

Bought it Wednesday.

2001 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat 4x4
5.4 Triton, just about every option.
Pics here=> http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=511750

paid 18,000 to the dealer, plus about 2 grand for the ext. warranty and then another 1K for the sales tax
