I used a piece of scrap aluminum and had the sheet metal guys at work cut a perfect hole, it works Great and you still have the Stock air box if you want to go back to the Factory setup

My airbox mod

You can see how I did the mod on mine in the gallery. It works great but I would advise picking up a spare one at the bone yard so you can set it back up for the warrenty. Dropping in the K&N is a big plus. Stock filters suck in it....

Reelwork...
Nice airbox mod, I never thought about doing it that way! Did your have a noticable throttle response? The reason I ask is I have a friend that wants to do the airbox mod but is afraid that his dealer (AKA A** Hole) will void his warrenty. He could do this to the bottom side of his box and it woldn't be noticable without really looking don't you think... Any Idea's

Thanks!

The airbox mod did add a little bit of throttle response. Maybe suffice to say that it allowed the motor to rev up a tad quicker..

Overall though, the main reason to go with the K&N for me is the cost savings.. Ya see, I'm getting cheaper as I grow older! LOL

I know me too!. If you replace the stock filter ever 10K miles you would still have a 50% savings with a K&N. I can relate to the savings.

Nice Mods, guys -- I will run to the boneyard and grab a spare box to 'mod' then keep the stock one to use for warranty show. I appreciate the tips -- BTW, Red -- what did you use for the trim on your box ?

trim

I went to Auto Zone and picked up the cheap black door edge trim for a couple of bucks and stuck it on there...
