Hi, I have been around the board often and know of the spider paint, piston slap, door cracks, etc that are common on the 97 and new style fords.

I am now looking at selling my truck and buying a 2002 Screw Lariet and am wondering if there are any issues specific to screws that I should be looking out for. I already noticed that the leather is showing wear / small tears and the truck has only 32,000 miles on it.

Any info, hints or comments would be appreciated.

 

I purchased an 02 Screw Lariat 4x4 back in January. The truck had 25K miles on it then and I have put about 5k on it since I have had it. I have not noticed anything about the truck that I would caution you to look for. I have really enjoyed this truck and so has my wife, my 9 month old son and my lab. There is room for everyone to ride on long trips in comfort. Just make sure you look over the truck very well before you buy it. I looked at 10 or 12 different trucks before I bought this one. I am very peculiar about what I buy. I don't even consider vehicles that have any evidence of mud on the undercarriage, evidence of prior body work, or vehicles that have been modified (lift, exhaust, rims, etc.). I like to purchase used vehicles that look stock and drive like they are new. Some people will try to tell you this is impossible, but if you are patient you will find one exactly like you want. This is the 4th used truck that I have purchased and I have never had to settle for anything on any of those purchases. Good luck with your purchase and I promise you will love this truck. And consider this, just 4 months ago I was driving a Chevrolet Z71 Xcab.

 

I have a 2002 Screw Lariat with 5.4L engine. I have had no trouble with this truck. I have now 38K on the truck. I use the 4x4 quite often and I drive highway often too. I have not had to change the original tires yet. My Leather does not show any wear or tears. I clean and condition the leather every now and again.
