Supercrew towing question ?

2003 Sup crew 4x4, 5.4L, 3.73, FX4 pkg.
GVWR is 6750 weighed @ 5900
Max Tow is 7100.
I am looking at a 27 ft travel trailer loaded ready to go 5500lbs.
I will be very close to my GVWR of 6750 and GCWR 1250
What do you think ?
What is everyone else towing as far as travel trailers.
Thanks

I pull my 5000lb Jeep on a 1200lb trailer w/ a similar S'Crew. It pulls fairly well. Mind you I pull @ a minimum of 5000 ft. and usually go up to 10,000 ft. when pulling. I'm guessing you are gonna be ok.

Hi Sreamin Reel,
I was wondering how you got the figure of 7100?

I am trying to calculate the towing on my similar SCrew (diff being the 3.55 vs your 3.73)

On the Ford site i see that our trucks have the following:

Maximum Towing Capabilities – Conventional Towing
Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight (Lbs.) – Automatic Transmission

Axle Ratio GCWR Towing
3.55 14000 8200
3.73 15000 9200

With the GVWR of 6750 and the actual weight of 5900. I came up with a Max Twoing of 9100 instead of your 7100.

JandJ,

GCWR is only 12500 on 03 Supercrews. Maybe you are looking at the 2004 model. For your 2001 (per your profile), you get the same 7100 pound number with 3.55 axle and 17" rims.

GVWR

JandJ
The #'s are higher for a 2004 vs 2001-2003.
My specs are
2003 5.4L, 3.73, 17" tires 4x4, FX4 pkg.
GVWR is 6750 my weight with me and gas is 5900lbs
Max trailer tow is 7100
GCWR (gross combined ratio) is 12,500lbs
Max trailer of 7100lbs might as well be thrown out the window. It means NOTHING!
The #'s that count are the trucks GVWR and GCWR
Best to be under these if you can.
For me I have 850 lbs for family, cargo & tounge weight. Not that much.
My GCWR of 12,500 minus my 5900 GVW leaves me a max of 6600lbs for all cargo, trailer, fluids etc.
I want to be under these #'s not @ them if I plan on making it up a hill let alone a mountain.
