You know I forgot to give the dealership that was going to charge me $70 for the code a little advertisement here. So if anyone lives in Indianapolis be sure to drop by and ask them how much it will be to look under your dash and read off the 5 numbers from the label.

Out of curiosity, did you buy the truck from them or a private owner?

Keypad

Hi guys...I did the keypad upgrade on my Gen 1 Supercrew shortly after I got it. Has anyone tried this on other Ford products? I just bought a 2003 Mercury Sable, very similar door hardware with touch pad right below the door handle. If you need an everyday driver these cars are hard to beat. Certified car, six months old with only 15,000 miles $11500, but no keypad!!

The only way to find out, if there is not a forum for the Sable, is to get a wiring diagram for the car ( best to use the Ford version, to get the locator diagrams ), and follow the wiring to the keypad in the manual, and see if the connector is in the door.
That is how I found all the connectors in my 01 XLT.
I added the keypad on the door, and the NAV visors with the illuminated mirrors and the HomeLink remotes, tha tI can recall right now. I know I am forgetting something.

Sorry it is not much help, but I do not know if a cut and dry line that xyz trim level has the complete harness ( like the newer XLT to Lariat trim ). It does change year to year as well. Some of the L's did not have the complete harness, but I think it was the 00 and newer have it. It could even be to the mid year change out, like lug nut sizes, and RAP to CSM changes, so you may find the general concensus is it does not have what is needed, but your build date does ?? The other option if the RAP / CSM equiv in the Sable is there,

Keypad update

As I mentioned in an earlier post I'm trying to install a touchpad in my 03 Mercury Sable with factory keyless entry. My Sable in in for a warranty repair and the dealer gave me a 04 Sable to drive with the keypad on the door. On the 04 Sable the code is on the lower right corner of the white box, which is attached and is behind the fuse box. It took me a while to find, it's not a sticker, it's printed on the box. You have to practically stand on your head to see it, but I found a five digit code, hit the keypad and it worked!
Ford Parts Online have the parts, same drill as the F-150...I am going to pull the door panel before I order the parts to make sure the harness is there...
I'm a little off subject here for the F-150 but I'm sure many of us have a Taurus/ Sable also sitting in the drive way...

The other alternative is to buy Ford's new 'wireless' keyless entry keypad. It is basically a remote transmitter that you stick to the door skin on your car - you enter the 5-digit code and it unlocks your doors.

You can pick one up at your local dealer or online. The unit is very simple to install - peel off the backing, stick to your door, program the keypad (and all your keyfobs) to your car, and enjoy.

Anbody know where to look for the code on a new Mountaineer. A buddy just got one as a lease car from work, and we can't find the code for the door keypad anywhere under the drivers side dash.

keyless entry keypad

I'm in the same boat, I'm gonna look under the dash F-150 2000. My son washed one of my remote transmitters which of course cost x $ from the ford dealer. Ford labor is at $82 per hour now, in 1999 it was $62.00

The information to add a secondary code (the primary code always stays) is found in the trucks manual. You can down load this on-line. I have a 2001 F-150 Lariat 4X4 and a 2001 Explorer Eddie Bower and have changed both codes to match one that I won't forget. If you leave your keys inside or don't want to dig deeply into your layered pockets after hunting or fishing you can just dial in to open up! It works great! Semper Fi

Thumbs up Keyless Code

Bonus, I looked between the pedals on the white keyless entry control box and there it was, the code worked like a champ. THANX
