Question programming 2001 F150 keys

Just bought a 2001 Supercrew with 1 original key. Instead of giving the local dealership $85 to cut and program a new key, I found one on Ebay I had cut at a local hardware store ($9.95 total). After delivery, the instructions said, two original keys were needed to program the new one in my model. Anyone know how to program the new key with only one original?

This is true. When I purchased my 2003 Screw the dealer had misplaced one of the keys. They had to take my truck to the shop, hook up a computer to the dash, which they said would reset the security code on my truck. They then reprogramed the old key, and a new one. I also had a spare made so I wouldn't need to do this again. It took about 30 minutes.

I am pretty sure the only way to have the second key made is to have Ford do it. I made a third key for my truck on my own, but when we had to get a 2nd for the Expedition we had to take it in.

Hey I too purchased my keyless entry remotes from ebay...I looked on the internet to find how to manually program them. I purchased 2 of them but could only program one of them since I only had one key. It's one remote per key. LOL...took me a while to realize that hehe. Anyways....Place a key in the ignition and turn from 2(lock) to 3(off)
Turn from 3(Off) to 4(On) eight times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds) with the eighth turn ending in the 4(On) position.
The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that programming mode has been entered.
Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any button on a transmitter. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated.)
Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.
When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn th ignition to 3(Off) or wait 20 seconds. Again the doors will lock/unlock to confirm programming has been completed.
Hope this helps..tc

I did the same as you got a 2001 supercrew and only got 1 key. and one remote. Went on ebay found two new keys for $10+shipping, and two remotes for $15+shipping. Went to wal-mart to get keys cut $2 for both. Went to FORD dealer had them program 1 new key $25, took about 30 minits. Programed the other new key and the remotes myself free. LOL

I also recently purchased a 99 F150 that came with only 1 key. I am almost positive that a second key cannot be programmed without going to a dealer, but a local Locksmith has the equipment to do it also. He's quoted me $75 to hookup, cut and program one more key. (the dealership said $105) I purchased a keyless remote on ebay and am hoping that I can program that myself. I am looking for a cheaper alternative.

From what I understand, you have to go to the dealer. I only received one with my truck to. They took into the shop and reset everything, and programmed both keys. They told me it was the only way. If they only gave you one, make them pay for the second one.
