is my warranty still good after an accident?

I have 26000 miles on a 2002 'Crew. A woman ran a red and crashed into me. I had planned on taking the truck in to do some warranty work- I have the transmission clunk, and a few rattles that annoy me- but now I'm curious if anything in the warranty is voided because of an accident. Anyone know?

no it's not voided unless they can prove that the problem you're encountering was caused by the damage from the accident.

and if the problem you are having WAS caused by the wreck then the insurance company should pay for it, as long as it hasn't been several years ago, and if it can be proven that the problem is a result of the wreck.

Ok, same question here I guess. I had some knucklehead smash up my driverse door and front left 1/4 panel real good. I had the truck taken to the FORD Dealership I originally purchased my Screw from brand new. As long as the Ford dealer fixes it, if anything goes wrong with my tuck for the 100K mile 7 year warranty, it should be covered by Ford under the original warranty right???

Most Ford dealerships operate their body shops as a different business entity (for liability issues) but generally speaking, they will offer (or should offer) lifetime warranty on all body work. Replacement parts are subject to standard dealer warranty. It's a safe bet to say that if you take your truck back to a Ford dealer body shop, then the warranty should be safe. Hell, if they claim it wasn't put back together right, then it would be calling themselves sloppy workers and well that won't happen.

I ran into the same situation you guys are worried about. 2 yrs ago a school bus ran through an intersection and I narrowly escaped getting hit broadside full on. After it was all over the bus just caught the side of my truck and opened it up on the passenger side from the fender all the way back through the bed like a can opener ripped through the middle. The states insurance company wanted to put door skins on but I fought and got new doors put on it instead. They moved all the orig parts from the old doors and put them in new doors like, glass, locks, motors, channels and etc.

9 mths ago I had to take it in for work on the passenger door lock and window channel jammimg and making noise. They almost refused to cover it stating that the truck had been repaired in an accident and it wasnt the FACTORY parts anymore. They stated anything on the passenger side of my trucks warranty was void now if it had been replaced. After letting them know that their body shop fixed it with FORD parts and used all the old parts from the door they still said it wouldnt be covered as they were not in the door installed by the factory. I fought with them over phone for a day and finally went to the dealer. I requested in writing on their letter head that the trucks warranty was void due to repairs with Ford parts in their Ford body shop. I wanted it written down that they refused to repair the orig parts in the door because they were inside a new Ford door and not the Factory door. They said they could just put it in the computer and that would be proof enough. I went up front and asked the general manager this time to get me the same and stated I needed it to contact Ford rep and possibly my lawyer to find out where I stand on a possible action against the dealer on this. He told me to wait and within 5 minutes stated that they just checked and didnt know all the orig parts were on the truck except the metal door frames and the truck would ready in an hr. Duh I told them this 5 times as well as the body shop explained the door frames were only non factory installed.

Just be careful as the dealers can be snakes and are looking for any reason to void your warranty or get out of an repair...
