Unhappy Please help...

Hi everyone. I have a 2001 SuperCrew. For a week I have been experiencing 2 problems with my truck. This is the first time since I bought it. First of all, when I start the truck and during the time I take off from a complete stop...there is a very loud screeching sound that comes from the engine. A friend advised me to use some belt dressing for the fan belt. I tried it and it still does it. They also told me the fan belt was still in good condition. Another person told me it might be the bearings in the pulley. It is a constant sound and very embarrasing and it's the only form of transportation I have. I hate driving it in that condition. Secondly, two days ago when I turned my truck on again it sounded very loud ...like a lot of wind in my engine. It scared me. It sounds like it's acclerated. It was always quiet before. I know that something is wrong. If someone could lend me some advice I sure would appreciate it.

Wow!

The wind sound is probably your fan clutch working properly. If it went away as you accelerated and didn't come back, that's probably what it is..

As for the other sound.. Too tough to say.. It could very well be a bearing going out..

Later,
Chris

I had an alternator with bad bearings a few years back. That was a high pitched squeal especially when it was cold. I would pull the belts off and see if it stops.
