SuperCrew Driving Rough @40mph...
Hi,
My 2001 Lariat Supercrew seems to run rough at or around 40mph. It drives as if bad gas was put in.
The guy at Nichols Ford in Fort Worth, TX told me to get the transmission fluid changed, drive it for about 200 miles, and bring it back in if the problem still occurs. Well, I did that and the problem is still there.
Have any of you experienced this? I have a little over 70,000 miles on the truck.
Any help on this would be great.
Thanks,
Clint

I think I know what you are talking about....between 40-45 MPH with the transmission in OD, I have a sort of surge/shake/lurching (can't decide what to call it) in my truck as well. Only happens if you hold constant at 40-45. Smooths out after that. Mine has always done it I guess, but I rarely drive at that magic spot.
If you come up with a fix, let us know.

You are supposed to get the tranny fluid changed every 30K miles. If you haven't done that, do it.
Otherwise, you may want to try to have the fuel system cleaned and/or check the plugs and coils...
