Oil Guage

My oil guage on my 01 screw seems to have a intermittent problem waking up on cold mornings. The gauge jumps from normal to no oil pressure then back to normal a few times and eventually settles back at normal. Engine sounds good (except for the typical cold morning rattle when first started), I seem to remember reading about someone else with this problem and it was just a sender. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've had the same problem - in fact I've even had it show no oill pressure for up to about a mile of driving. Of course I know this is not true since the engine would lock before I could drive that far. It's been cold here lately and I have too many other projects to deal with to fix it right now, but i just assume that it is the oil sending unit and I plan on replace it at a later date - until then, I just listen to what my engine is telling me - smooth running = everything is OK.

It turned out to be the oil sending unit, $16 if you do it your self. Good luck.

It is right behind the power steering pump on the drivers side. I just replaced mine last weekend. It would drop to "0" when the engine was cold and the weather was cold. So far so good and the weather has been cold for a couple of days.
