hey folks,

those of you that have had rear axle whine...has the dealership been able to fix it? just wondering as my 3.55ls axle has been whining at around 50 mph for quite some time now and i plan to take er in before the warranty runs out. thanks...

 

I have the 3.73 and had to have my axle completely replaced for the same reason.

 

yeah, my dad has an '02 harley s-crew and his rear end whines even more than mine does. he is getting ready to take it in...will be interesting to see what happens with his truck...

 

Mine is still not fixed. Had the ring and pinion replaced, it did absolutely nothing.

 

I had the rear end whine in my '01 Screw. Turned out to be a burned up pinion bearing. While it was apart, we went ahead and replaced the 3.55 rear gears with 3.73. Boy, what a difference that made. Oh well. Fond memories of that truck. Totaled it a few weeks ago. Now I have a new 03 4x4 Screw which already has 3.73 gears.
